Cropcho - Any thoughts on a Polish surname that might have led to this anglicized spelling?

I am trying to help a friend with their family lineage.

In America, the family surname has been Cropcho for a few generations.
However i'm fairly confident that is not the original polish spelling.

Any thoughts on a surname that might have led to this anglicized spelling?
He had thought originally Cropsko or Kropsko - but I've used polish directories online and can't find any current instances of any of those options in Poland.

The closer similar Polish surname that might exist could be Kropcz - but extremely rare in Poland. Maybe Kropka or Kropsz yet.. The other long shots:

Krocz, Krokosz, Krośko, Krówczyk, Krawczak, Krawców, Kroszka, Kropop, Kropp, Kroczak, Kroczka, Krock and so on...

Hard to guess just from this spelling overall.

I am a Cropcho (using that exact spelling). However, my surname came from my father's father, who came from Ukraine, not Poland. I figure there is some overlap on surnames across that border, though. And yes, it was phoneticized or otherwise changed, spelling-wise, to become Cropcho.

With ours' spelling, it's an exceedingly rare surname. It is very likely that you and I are closely related, hgp214. I live in Manhattan, New York City, and was born in Western Pennsylvania.

Assuming we're closely related, did you know you have a cousin who was a famous photographer? Small world.
