Anyone try Polish spirytus straight?

Have any of you ever got talked into downing a nip of undiluted spirytus (90+% grain alocohol)? The seasioend imbibers say there is a trick to how youshape your gullet and swallow -- otherwise you can easily choke.

I guess you just have to accept that there is going to be some damage to your esophagus :)

I have, but purely in a medicinal capacity. There is something called 'kit pszczeli' and when mxed with spirit forms a liquid, very mcuh like iodine, which can then be put on the skin to dry out any abnormalities, spots, boils..

Yes, I've drunk it neat quite often. My Ukrainan lodger was partial and I sometimes joined him, but I wouldn't recommend it to anyone. Nasty stuff.

I once drank spirit which was diluted too little -we didn`t have enough water - the conditions were very peculiar - we were in the desert. The burning in my throat which lasted for a few hours taught me a good lesson and never have I tried to do it again.

When I was growing up the men in my family would on certain holidays take out the Spityyus bottle and toss down a shot. Followed by coughing laughing slaps on the back and dancing! Good times.
