Does anybody on PF still use or has used a pressure-cooker? I think they're called szybkowar in Polish. Seems they kind of went out of style, but were a good way to cook gołąbki, stews, etc. in a short amount of time.
Do you still pressure-cooker to cook?
Well , i have a pressure cooker , its an old thing i brought from the UK when i moved to Polska...Unfortunatly , i don,t know much about cooking anything , but i am sure when my Russian lady moves here i will be enjoying some rather nice Polish and Russian food cooked in the thing....Its a long while since i ate anything cooked in a pressure cooker , but they certainly cook stuff quicker than the normal way....I guess they went out of fashion when the microwave oven came along...

My mum still uses one at least a couple of times a week.
They'll never go out of style, is you want to reduce cooking time.

We have moved on---we now use a slow cooker--set it and forget it-supper is ready while you work.

My mom used to use a pressure-cooker to soften meats, such as cow tripe and pork ribs. That way she'd only stink up the kitchen, for half the regular cooking time. Haha.
I've never tried cooking with one. I'm too afraid of the enormous pot bursting open, exploding hot food contents, all over my stove and kitchen.
I have both crock-pot and pressure cooker. Pressure cooker is valuable for potatoes in 5 minutes.
And gołąbki.
And gołąbki.

Basically, they both do the same job except a person using a slow cooker has to be extremely organized. Meals have to be prepared in the morning before leaving for work, so the meals are cooked by the time they get home in the evening. Pressure cookers, on the other hand, can cook meals in minutes rather than hours allowing you to quickly prepare a meal in the evening after getting home from work. Unlike a slow cooker, there is no need to rush to prepare the evening meal before running out the door in the morning.
A pressure cooker can cook the same types of delicious recipes that a slow cooker can and so much more, but cook them substantially faster.

I remember my parents having that utensil in communist times, I inherited it after they died but didn`t use it and finally it landed in scrap metal collection point.
Today I think it might be an asset, though:
