Witam

Sorry for my bad English. I guess One woman is going to the restaurants and saying ''This is bad. You should change this. It shouldnt be in here. What is this! This is awful. You dont know how to cook'' etc etc and giving ideas to restaurant owners for their places getting better. After her, I guess those places are becoming famous.

What is the name of that show?

Sounds like the Polish equivalent of Ramsay's Kitchen Nightmares...

I can't stand it. Gessler never busted her ass in a kitchen, nor has she won a single Michelin star, so what does she know?

Didn't her Italian retardant in Krakow have a Michelin Star?

Nope. She's essentially just an image, nothing more. Even her first restaurant was through marriage, not through having actually worked for it.

A couple of years ago there was an interview in Polityka (or Newsweek) with someone (about political changes in general) who said the show was the best exploration of Polish management-labor relations ever and that anyone who wants to understand what's going on in Poland should watch it.

He made a good case of clueless owners who have no coherent plans (beyond easy money) and don't know who to manage (beyond yelling and blaming employees for not following orders that weren't given) and who do anything to try to not pay employees. He also praised her ability to bring the sides together. I made a good faith effort to watch it then but.... couldn't get past her, cause I cannot deal with her at. all. ever.

In Warsaw in the mid 90s her restaurants were pretty much the only place where you could have a healthy, hygienic, Polish meal in nice surroundings and with good service. The only other option was in hotels like the Marriot or Sheraton. I think that of the next generation of restaurant owners maybe one third of the more training in her kitchens.

Also I doubt it was easy running any kind of business in Poland in those days, let alone something like a restaurant business.

So even though she is annoying and I agree that now she is just an image I still salute and the rest of the family for what they did

I used to go to Maciej Kurons's fish restaurant in Lazy. Splendid fellow!
