GUS figures show that Poland has the EU's cheapest food with the exception of bread and cereals where Bulgaria is the lowest. Alcohol is excluded from this calculation. Supposedly Polish food is 39% below the EU average. Somehow Polish shoppers are not that optimistic.

if you live near biedronka.... it's cheap. otherwise it ain't.

difficult to measure prices here. milk can cost 2:20zl or 3:20zl depending where u buy.

i can find some things at the same price or cheaper in Berlin.

In Belgium food for sure is much more expensive as here in Warsaw. Here in Wolumen I buy strawberries at 5 PLN/kg. Back home they cost twice that.

Cherries at 6 PLN/kg. Back home three times as much.

Some things, yes, but in general - Poland is much cheaper, particularly for meat.

Back home three times as much.

I checked the price of cherries in the UK yesterday - they were coming in at 5 times the price.

Its not exactly true, prices depend on many factors - f.e. german Lidl usually offers cheaper products than polish one

I know of Poles getting cheap flights to Doncaster or Liverpool to go to Primark etc for clothes - food can often be cheaper elsewhere too.

To be fair, Primark is ridiculously cheap compared to most European shops!

All depends what, I think. Certainly decent Asian food is far cheaper in Berlin than in Poland, but raw ingredients are cheap in Poland. There's a reason why meat is sold per kg in Poland and per 100g in Germany.
