Hi friends , anyone know where could i get halal food or muslim restaurant in poznan ? I'll be coming to poznan soon for a business trip .
How to find Halal Food in Poznan (Muslim food in Poland)
There are not many Muslims in Poland so halal food is not a big concern for many people.
A few minutes of googling in Polish didn't find any Muslim organizations (I think they exist but don't have web pages yet) but there is:
Zakład Arabistyki i Islamistyki (department of Arabic and Islamic studies) at the local unversity.
here's the english version of their home page, you might hunt around for email or phone numbers.

I don't know if you are trying to be sarcastic, but there is actually a Polish community in Iran. During WW2 Iran took in over 150,000 Polish refugees, some of whom stayed in Iran after the war. The are still Polish churches and restaurants in Tehran.
Iran at that time was an impoverished nation , most of it's oil wealth being taken by the British, but the Persian people saw fit to house, feed and clothe the Polish refugees. They even built special schools for the tens of thousands of orphans.
It's amazing in a country so aware of it's history that this chapter has been almost completely ignored. At least the Post Office didn't forget:

You could always try to contact the local Al-Quaida outfit - I guess they also exist in this country :)

Try in Stary Browar in the city center (a huge red buildig ;]) (trams, for example 2, 6, 9, 12, 10). There's an excellent Turkish restaurant run by a Turk so the food they serve there's "safe" ;)
Have a nice stay in Poz' :)
A serious question, is kosher food considered OK as halal?
according to wikipedia (caution: wikipedia)
"Whether or not Muslims can use kashrut standards as a replacement for halal standards is an ongoing debate, and the answer depends largely on the individual being asked. While some Muslim halal authorities accept kosher meat as halal, none of the Jewish kosher authorities accept meat certified as halal as kosher due to different requirements.
There's also a whole article on the topic: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Islamic_and_Jewish_dietary_laws_compared

Hi trevek,
Kosher/halal is the same for the new generation of muslim, who was born in Europe....For the "old school" it's little bit different ;)

If you carry an i-phone, it has a brilliant App for that;-) it's called Zabihah and helps you recognize halal restaurants. Good luck

all slaughter houses are 'barbaric' I suppose, so to say 'oh we kill our animals better than you' is just sad, unless you actually have first hand experience and knowledge of the inside of both kinds of abbatoir. Which I doubt.

What you attach is certainly barbaric but does not represent the faith or what is permissible, there are many slaughter houses that do indeed treat animals cruelly whether they supply halal or non halal meat. Can i kindly ask you look this up when you have a minute?

hence my paraphrasing of y'all without sin can cast the first stone
I am not happy with live exports of sheep though. they get shipped from Europe to Saudi in appalling conditions just to get their throats cut by a mufti
it is not the method of slaughter that I protest against but the suffering that the animal must endure in order to get to Saudi

@Rozumiemnic -Well said.

they could slit a sheep's throat before it had time to say 'baah'
but they don't
as far as I remember (and I never check facts before posting as I consider it to be the equivalent of taking a set of encyclopedias into a pub quiz)
after Ramadan there is the festival of Eid where understandably people are quite hungry and want to have a feed
and watch the sheep getting offed in public in a scene not disimilar to something out of Spartacus Blood and Sand
it is the spectacle that the public enjoy
if the sheep had been offed in a slaughterhouse in Droitwich in would not have the same effect
it is not quite as exciting for them to hear the mufti say 'and we are just opening the doors on the refridgerated lorry now'
