sorry... off the subject of beer slightly, but i used to live with 3 polish guys from warsaw, and we used to drink this polish vodka with a bit of grass or a long leaf in it...? does anyone know it??? i need to know the name so my boyfriend cn bring some back with him... thanks
no problem..its great isnt it. not sure where you live, but you can also get it in some supermarkets and off-licences in the UK. Traditionally drunk with apple juice, ice and slice.. although Ive recently tried it with Bitter Lemon and Cranberry (not together), which werent bad either..
i live in norwich, but as you say, its so much cheaper in poland, so ill get him to bring quite a few bottles over... we used to drink it with apple juice too, shot of zubrowka then the apple, mmmmm i cant wait, and i know this is totaly off the subject of beer, but jacek, one of the guys i lived with used to bring these 'soya chops' back from poland we're both vegetarians, anywy ive looked all over for them and cant find them anywhere, any idea what they're called, or a translation??? thanks :)
sorry have no idea about that one, but Im sure someone else could help you if you start a new thread in food and drink. God I could do with a Zubrowka right now.. but Im at work so maybe not the best idea.
intrestingly enough, whilst i was living with these polish guys and consuming vast amounts of zubrowka, i was working in asda. thats not interesting is it......
not that happy as asda didn't stock it when i was there, so we'd have to wait for either someone else to come over and live with us or for one of the guys to go home,
we cant find them anywhere, they're dryed soya blocks, that look a bit like chops of a sort.... the reason i want to get some brought over is they're so cheap like a huge bag for about £1 that lasts months, and they just taste better than the stuff you get in asda etc, by the way do you work there? you seem to be doing some very good PR for them.
hopefully someone will know what the hell im on about.... so are you english or polish living here?
If you mean those soya things that you soak first and they taste like chewy mushrooms. We have them in shops nearby. I have no idea what they are called or who makes them.
Zubrowka is stocked in my local Tescos. My Polish friends say it tastes different to the stuff back home - I dont think so - also do a few Polish vodkas too. Bit pricey though.
I'd reather not create a thread just for British beer, but I was weondering what's the best that comes out of the UK. I really enjoy Boddingtons on tap. Prob my favorite aside from Guinness.
hmm of the top of my head, these are the ones I enjoy most. Bear in mind, i'm not a big beer drinker, so i've certainly not tried the entire sortiment. :)
If you like Boddys, like I do, then try Caffreys and John Smiths
Another good one imho is Pedigree.
If you want lager advice, i'm not the man, can't do with lagers. Though I have it on universal authority, avoid Budweiser, Fosters and Carling. :)
