He was a top bloke and would give help to anyone if he could.
I enjoyed some good debates with him too. I'm not going to pretend that I was on great terms with him or anything, but he did give a very real perspective of what it was like to do business here. To his credit, even in the debates about the EU and so on, he was never personal, unlike most posters on here.
I think that he is survived by the young daughter and her mother. Sending good thoughts their way.
