Cześć y'all ;-)

In advance of our move to Poland this summer, we would like to open a bank account there.
Can it be done online?
Which bank would you recommend?
What type of account (savings, for a start)?

Dzięki for all your informative posts on this forum - it makes our move less overwhelming!

Most banks require residency, tax ID etc. This one only needs a passport. I don't think you can open an account without going into a branch but could be wrong.

I just have the basic account and it seems fine.

I have zloty and USD accounts with Citibank in Poland. My bank back in the states is Citibank also. Money transfers between the two are simple, yet even more simpler when sending money from the US to Poland via Citibank Global Transfer, costing only $8 per transaction, and done instantly. However, from Poland to the US, sending money is done by regular wire transfer, costing $30 a pop, and 2-3 days wait. I believe you can open an account online but you will still need to show up in person to present your documents.

Don't understand why this threat was moved to Polonia...

Thank you both for the answers.

It seems I cannot open an account long distance. Will wait till we arrive in Poland (Trojmiasto)
