Hi there!!
I'm gonna move to chicago from NYC, and I don't have there any friends, family etc etc.. Does anybody know where can I find any information about general jobs, apartment rentals. I was thinking just to go there, and drive on Addison, Belmont Diversey streets(polish neighborhood right???) and find some polish agency. But it would be better to have some addresses, websites etc etc...

Yes, that whole area has alot of Polish especially Belmont,
The best way to find an apartment is to get the Nadig northwest side press.
There is a local Polish Newspaper also, sorry but these are not available online.

Here`s the best papers for job hunting

chicagotribune.com
dailyherald.com suburban paper, most likley your best bet for jobs.
chicagoreader.com this is a real good one for just the city.
chicago.metromix.com

Well this should keep you busy for awhile.......powodzenia:)

What about jobs at all in Chicago area. I mean there's a bad economy time, and isn't it more difficult to find a job??

Yes I would say so, its typically slow during the holidays but it seems to be a lot worse this year.
It all depends on what youre looking for?
I would definitely do some research before just coming here out of the blue.

I wouldn't be so sure about this polish neigbourhood anymore. It really depends on what kind of job you are looking for... "Program" newspaper has plenty of job offers in Chicago for polish community.

At the begining whatever "general job", just want to start!!!! But .... Best for me it would be shipping/receiving in warehouse, delivery etc etc. I have experience in that.

Then hit up the chicago tribune link that sledz posted.

There is also a polish paper in Chicago "Dziennik Zwiazkowy" that has a wide variety of job postings. I dont believe its online, but if you arrive here, it can help you to get a room for cheap.

I was just wondering if I graduated from a university in Poland...will that count as a bachelors degree in the states? I would like to apply to a masters program in the US as well...has anyone else experienced this?

This depends on the university probably. Try calling some in Chicago where a lot of Poles live becuase I'm sure they have dealt with this before: Depaul, Northwestern, Unv of Chicago, Loyola, Univ of Illinois Chicago.. Call and ask for their registrar office and they will transfer you to whoever can evaluate your bachelor's courses.
