Polish immigrant's views on living in USA now - time to return home?

I've lived in the US for about 8 years. It seems the standard of living here has decreased a little. It's harder to find a good job and "live on credit" as it used to be. Few Poles who go to the US think about working - they prefer to travel in the US instead because they get better money in the UK or even in Poland sometimes.

Will the Polish immigration to the US stop soon? Is it time to go back to Poland?

Whether you're Polish or not, life isn't easy here and we're all in the same boat. It is what you make of it. If you seek opportunity, it's there for you. If you're determined, you'll make it over the hurdles that life puts in your way and you can be whatever you put your mind to.

"live on credit"

True. If you look for the easy way out, you'll be seriously disappointed.

I guess I need to visit Poland to check how it's really like there now (haven't been there for 4 years)...

You will find: New, big buildings in city areas. Foreign names at business addresses. Better cars, buses, trams. Higher cost of living. You will also find areas that seem to have had no new investment.

Yes, last time I was quite surprised it was hard to find any "maluch" on the Polish roads any more...:).

Higher cost of living.

I'm not particularly joyful about that -- the weak US dollar was one of the main reasons I haven't visited Poland for the last couple of years...

a friend's parents moved back a few years ago and they love it but they had somewhat of a hard time fitting in here in the US.

another friend of mine moved back 2 years ago. he is working in norway. to me, that's a sign things aren't as peachy as one may hope.
