Chris if u wanna have a pop at anyone have a pop at Tony Blair....i dont think Polish people who are actually contributing to society are the burden of Britain ...most are here for a short time and go home..they dont take benefits. There are people from other parts of the world who come here and bleed the country dry that are a problem not polish or other europeans

My grandmother was welsh and all my family, on record, where born in the british isles.

Hence my reasons for being pro-British, I care about this land - unlike foreigners

I'm not anti-polish, i have a few friends that are descendants of polish immigrants that came here a long time ago.

I just think it's time we closed the borders because Britain is full up.

See mate, once you're not being so angry, you don't sound so bad...
I'm pro British as well, hell it's my country too but, I just think that the whole point about the UK is, that we are tolerant and we absorb other things from other cultures into ours, in order to make ourselves better in the long run.

When we start yelling, F off back to Poland <Insert country of choice here> we forget what it is to be British. Tolerance, fair play, mindless violence on a friday night... :)

Look on the bright side.
In a twisted way, the fact so many poles came to the uk, will actually help prevent a repeat of such a thing in the future. The government were caught with their trousers around their ankles; no one expected it and now, when it is the Romanian turn, there will be a system in place to prevent it happening again. That's something positive right? :)

Besides, the majority of the poles in the uk won't stay forever and when they leave, i hope that leave with fond memories of the uk.

no....he was told not to swear:)

yah - how about that. So why are you adressing the problem on this forum, where it doesn't really belong???

If you are soooo frustrated, find a constructive solution - whatever that might be.
Try at least - here nobody can really help you - I am afraid.
Or perhaps I am wrong.

It just comes down to numbers basically, and that can be blamed on the British Goverment nobody else. Yes i think we have too much immigration now, but i don't blame people for coming here to get work. And i have been in Construction for 24 years and work very hard, hence i never have a problem with shortage of work or having to take a pay cut.

I'm leaving London soon to work in Canada for 2 years, purely out of choice because i believe Britain is becoming over crowded. That doesn't make me a racist, i'd say more a realist..

why should i employ some dodgy-as-f*k british builder who is going to charge me silly money for sitting on his fat ar*e all day drinking tea... had a bloke... and his little mate... in last year to do some plastering... took them four hours... including a two hour lunch break... and half a bag of plaster and the radge wee c*nt wanted 4OO sovs... guess where i told him to go...

you were lucky they finished the job, a friend of mine was having an extension done and they buggered off half way through! - he paid 3/4 of the amount....he had to get some else in to finish the job!...would have been cheaper to buy a new house!!

tolerant and we absorb other things from other cultures into ours,

but whats left of us if we absorb everyone elses???

he one thing that bothers me the most about poles coming to uk is that they dont seem to make an effort to intergrate and speak our language ,
I believe that anyone who goes to another country must intergrate and adjust to its cultures etc
If i moved to anywhere i would learn the language

Jem, my husband is English, went to good school, all our English friends are middle-class, well-educated peopel. None of them speaks any language other than English and some residual French. The Brits that moved to Spain or France have a well-deserved reputation for not making enough effort to learn Spanish or French.

but whats left of us if we absorb everyone elses???

The latest statistics: 1500 people a day immigrate to Britain, while 1000 British citizens emigrate to France, Italy, Australia, Canada, US...
I wish we could do the same, I do not feel we have much of a future in the UK. Overpopulation, property prices, reduced social mobility, state schools, the most expensive childcare in Europe, rising taxation...no wonder Brits are no 41 on the happiness list, well below Americans, Germans and the French, not to mention Skandinavians, who are so much better at, well, pretty much everything.

[quote=ola123] british is the last nation that can slag Poland off for its current situation, look and poverty. It was Britain that sold Poland after II WW to Russia, it is your blood that is guilty for my parents and grandparents pish poor life during Russia occupation. You are responsible for Polands current poverty. Now inviting Poles to your country you can pay off at least 1% of your nations guilt. But your betrayal will not be forgotten.

It was the Americans and the Russians love who betrayed you if you know anything about history!!......All the British did during the Yalta talks was to sit in!!!....Anyway i'm really glad that you all suffered during the Communist years.....Especially after reading some of your opinions of the UK........Get your facts right and sort your life out will you?

I visited Krakow and the architecture is beautiful, it was not dirty and even on the drive to Zakopane Poland looked a good place to live. Now Polish food is good but nothing special, 'English' food (if such a concept exists anymore, food is now international) has similar good points and more variety. This is coming from English-Pole who was brought up on Polish food.

This is indeed true. Churchill was the only leader who tried to save Poland, the Russian and Americans sold us down the river.

Don't forget you would be speaking German if it wasn't for the Polish airmen fighting in the battle of Britain. Britain owes a massive debt to Poland. 170k died fighting in the British army in the belief they were going to be given a free Poland. Remember Arnhem? A division of Poles were flown in (even knowning that it was hopeless) and were pretty much slaughtered. The British Government knew years before that the Poles were not going to be able to return home and it allowed them to die on Britains behalf.

What sort of effect do you think it had on the Polish who were exiled in Britain? Well, they ended up committing suicide. some of them, like my father. He loved Poland and he could never set foot there again. After the War the Poles were excluded from the victory celebrations, banned for life from speaking about how they had been betrayed.
