why else are they so against scotland having independance?

because we're awesome and they don't want to let go of us

j/k and I'm doing so because I have and cannot give a serious answer. Anyone English who can give a real response?

im scottish and would like to be independant, so why cant the english vote for the same thing?

Because nobody in politics is standing for it.
I couldn't really be arsed one way or the other.
If the majority of Scots or Welsh or Northern Irish want something different, they should have it.
There is the West Lothian question. Scottish MPs in Westminster can vote on matters that affect England and sometimes Wales in areas where the Scottish Parliament decides how things are done north of the border.

because we're awesome and they don't want to let go of us

There are some I wouldn't want to let go.
But who really has hold over whom?

I think that Poland is much less divided than Uk.

UK is not divided. The word you should use is diverse. UK is more diverse than Poland.

I think Brits in general are very nice, open minded people. Unless, of course, you want to take their jobs away from them. Then, they may become a major pain in the ass.

If I came to Britain 30 years ago I wouldn’t meet so many nice, rich and liberal British people there, would I?

shouldnt we end this stupid union which the scottish king james V started

Yes.
As a footnote,King James VII ( II of England )declined Louis XIV offer to make him King of Poland.
Interestingly, around this time Poland was seen as a land full of opportunties for Scots and many migrated there for work and trade.

Polish Thoughts on Britain and the British

I like the Brits, I think they're cheerful. :]

---------------------------------------------------------------------- ------------------------
Just a quick question, is Brian Jacques a famous author, by any means, in the UK?
I'm just wondering because I used to read his books all the time, and now my little cousin is planning on reading them all, so I figured I'd buy him the series. It's hard to find all of his books here in the States. I'm gonna have to go to like 8 different stores to get them all, but I've pre-ordered the new one.

Brian Jacques

Anyone even heard of him???

Ok, someone finally answers. Is it pretty easy to get his books in the UK? I'm having a bit of trouble getting them all here in the US. I'm thinking it might be easier just to order them all.

What nationality is the Prime Minister?
What nationality are members of parliament?
How did the Scots and Welsh vote in devolution referenda?
Have you asked any English people what they think?

Learn something before you talk such rubbish.

The PM is Scottish. People will do anything to obtain power
and fulfill personal ambition.
members of parliament vary in nationality cos this is multicultural
country.
Referenda don't always reflect the real cause. When I was in
Wales people spoke their own language passionately.
Ajgraham's views match mine for once.
I don't need to ask the English. It's about the other 3.

All i have said is that it was a much more complicated story than that, in which Britain played the most important part......This fantastic success story they keep going on about was more to do with Britain than Poland....Why should we be slagged off by them?....

It's not really that complicated because it's documented. The complicated part is the information that was hidden by Russian and other propaganda - and which is now emerging. You grew up thinking one thing - and now you find out it's not quite like that - and you can't deal with it. That's all. Noone is slagging you off. You have to be mature enough to accept that you may have not done all that you have been told.

They blow everything out of all proportion to their input!........and as for me ***** everyone off on this site!!....Is it the truth you don't like or what?......I can feel another avalanche of statistics coming on....Don't bother folks because i know the real story.

It's not out of proportion. It's how it happened. Nice tantrum! Yes you know the truth now because I've just enlightened you.

No it doesn't mean that Ogorek.....People have been complaining about Wikipedia for a while now, because anyone can Doctor the information on it......including you!!

I have not "Doctored" wikipedia becuase it would say if I did.
If you look at the bottom of the wikipedia article, there is a long list of sources and references to other articles by different people. No-one has just made this up.

The whole world can't be wrong:-
Wikipedia is written collaboratively by volunteers from all around the world. Since its creation in 2001, Wikipedia has grown rapidly into one of the largest reference Web sites. There are more than 75,000 active contributors working on some 5,300,000 articles in more than 100 languages

Hey ajgraham - Scotts rock! There's loads in Warsaw and they know how to party! They love wearing their Kilts out on the town and the local girls love them!

Ogorek....The whole world knows what happened to Poland

The world knows that Poland was invaded by Germany. You got about 2% of the whole story there.

As a footnote,King James VII ( II of England )declined Louis XIV offer to make him King of Poland.

He was bloody right. In fact, he would become a puppet in the hands of magnates.

Didnt the Bonnie Prince Charlie speak with a Polish accent

French apparently. Upon setting foot on Scottish soil at Glenfinnan 1745 he pronounced
" I am come home".

Im English. I have a few thoughts of the Polish. 1 I dont like the way they sit there talking in their own language and 2 I find the slighty arrogant and I get the impression they think their better than us. Im sorry for sounding harsh but its my thought. I do have 1 or 2 polish work friends.

I also would like to ask a question if I may. Out of all the countries in Europe, why do you choose to come to England to live and work?

british cuisine is not for me

That's why many of us prefer other people's food.

why do you choose to come to England to live and work?

and why Wales, Scotland or Northern Ireland too?

Do you think that English visiting Poland speak Polish ?
poohbear
14 Oct 2007 /  #204
If I was living in Poland and working in that country then I would learn the language and talk in it when around the polish. I think its very rude when they talk to their other polish friends in their language when in the company of us brits. Plus I also find it rude when they start trouble over here. Where I live there are more Pols starting fights and dis-respecting the locals than the other way around.

Yeah because British people NEVER cause trouble anywhere else!

In actual fact they do. Im not debaiting that what Im saying is that When you go to live and work in another country you should respect their laws and people. I would if I was to live in another country. Dont come to live in the UK and act like you are better than us!!
