guys are always doing stupid things

like? I have never been drunk. tipsy maybe, but never drunk. :) so don't voice that opinion on my behalf there.

thank you. :) and it has nothing to do with a victorian attitude. I'd call that ''common sense''.

who are these arbiters of how much or who should drink what......complete and utter bukum

take a look in the clinics, could be your children. :)

England feeds more than half of million of Polish people. Why will all of you bite the hand that feeds you? :)

Feeds? What the word......you can feed bird in little bird -house.

So, there are a few namby pambies out there...stuck with that Victorian attitude....laughable...who are these arbiters of how much or who should drink what......complete and utter bukum!

C'es la vie!

Remember Amathyst....there is only one thing worse than being looked over............and thats being over looked!!

Ok, so it doesn't work so well when the guys are drunk...lol...guys are always doing stupid things...why can't girls?......

What is your piont here?

I am fed up of reading about raped drunk women sooooo poor......they agreed or not...who remebers after so many drinks....

For me they they are only stupid and copmletely thoughtless...with zero self respect

Sorry this is my "victorian attitude"- my choice, my opinion.

Im an English binge drinker and my bf is a Polish alcoholic... does that mean we are compatible?

Definitely, you have the same hobby so you can spend together leisure time...:)

MI think alcohol consumption goes hand in hand with amount of sunlight received in winter. The further north you go the more depressive the winters get. People in Lapland drink much more (and worse) than in southern Scandinavia. And in turn they drink more than people in central Europe.

It is strange but in my imagination Poland is always the way that it was when I left.

if I was to come back one day it can be more similar to west europe than to "old Poland"....

We will see. I hope that it won't change too drastically. Just the improvement of wages would be fine, thank you. :)

Poland is heavy drinking culture two...so why can we speak about UK when we can judge Poland?...why do you all pick on UK??

Because, as you said, Poland is on the second place, ha…:P

I noticed this about the polish people in Italy. Even if they get paid really well( compared to poland where I read that they are people that get max 200 euro) they say some very mean thing about my country.

You have to also take into account, that cost of living in Italy are bigger than in Poland. But yes, if they are behaving rude, than they are "trolls". :)

Well.....look at the drug culture in UK........its worse now by a factor of 10 compared to 20 yrs ago......

What I said was all efforts to date aint worked............who wants a bloody nanny all the time......people make their choices, and then live with consequences...no stupider than the current government!

In what way is the drugs culture [whatever that is] worse than 20 years ago by a factor of 10?

My guess would be there are more "designer" drugs available nowadays. With methamphetamines and Extacy on the market, there are more drugs that can be produced with common household items, and with technology of internet, kids can find ways to produce such drugs. Just a guess.

Combination of usage/users and the number of addicts.....now more widespread, easier to find a dealer, cheaper, more acceptable to use most drugs, more "acceptable" to be an addict!

Some usage less criminal, easier to access rehab etc.....

Is that how it is in Ireland?

Nope...GB.....mainland....certain pockets in Dublin, other city areas just as bad though....

I can’t agree with your generalisation, I’m 40 years old and reasonably informed regarding ‘drugs culture’ and I would say that drug users are better informed and more discerning than they were 20 years ago. Certainly Crack and Crystal have issued new challenges for our society, but I still don’t see the 10 fold increase that you describe.

Although I might be incorrect in my opinion, maybe you can show me the research you used to base your opinion on?

Combination of usage/users and the number of addicts...

Simple marketing/sales facts......more points of sale....more variety, more interest, more likely to use...if wrong drug..more likely to get addicted!!!

As per this quote.........perhaps not absolute volume but the areas mentioned........and yes I get get qualified numbers etc from an expert in the field of 20 years experience!!

You seem to have a more serious interest in this topic SW.....why?

I here so much ‘hearsay’ concerning drugs use and it’s associated issues, but never see the ‘10 fold increase’ that scaremonger often refer to.

The I.R.A. control the drugs in Eire don’t they? At least they did 20 years ago.

To repeat myself.........its the overall activities surrounding drugs/taking of/selling of/rehab etc..........not solely volume....

No idea who controls drug selling...except they are breaking current laws in all EU countries.

Can’t argue with that. But given that ‘drugs culture’ has increased 10 fold as your friend has told you, you’d imagine that government would be more reactive as drug use, when it is an illegal drug, is in effect a drain on tax revenue as nobody pays tax on it. The government is loosing 10 times more tax [from illegal drug trade] than it did 20 years ago and yet they have done nothing to do anything about this, even going so far to reducing cannabis use to a lesser crime than it was 20 years ago- shear madness.

I suppose they get away with it because people like me haven’t noticed the 10 fold increase in ‘drugs culture’

SW, don't put yourself down....it doesn't suit ya!....:)

Well GB government is known to one of the most "bury its head in the sand" types in the EU..........following the dictats of the USA in all things legal/christian value things too......

Marijuana was legal til the 30s then outlawed by USA ....etc....

Didn't Queen Victoria use a selection of drugs....laudinum ( spelling) being one.....the trouble arises.......when the British masses then want to use..........then its illegal!

Danny Dan....I say well said....We have had quite afew of them in my home town, and already the shops are full of Polish food etc??....My problem with them is that they seem to insist on everything being Polish!!....and they all seem to have a chip in their shoulders about World War Two etc.....I feel if we don't send them back to Poland we will all end up with Polish Ghetto's, and then we will all suffer!!

I noticed this about the polish people in Italy. Even if they get paid really well( compared to poland where I read that they are people that get max 200 euro) they say some very mean thing about my country. You should hear them call us names and despising our culture!

This for the above comment!!

i will say this. Polish are very big drinkers. we just aren't violent ones for some reason. usually someone will drag our ass home if we get piss drunk or we will just sleep at the house we drank at. most other cultures people will become loud, obnoxious and very violent. when Polish people drink they usually tell stories of wtupid or funny things they've done b4. most of the time its men sitting at a table laughing the entire time.

they get loud, but not the kind of loud when they start screaming: "hey....hey.... I love you man....no no, i really do.....and i'm not just say..sy...sayin that cuz i'm drunk man....i love you"

its really fun to be around Polish drunks....if you can understand them. even if you can't its pretty damn funny. Seems like every Polish person has a different laugh when they drink. Anyone else notice this??

Poland is one of the highest drinking countries in the world. #1-Russia, #2- Ireland and so on. we are in top 10. but we have the "good drunks" if you wanna call it that. It's just hard to find drunk guys/girls walking the streets of Poland in the A.M. like you can in US or UK.

In Ireland too! I was in the Army reserver for four years ( a great experience) but when we were off duty in the middle of nowwhere - drink was all that was there!!! crazy!!!

And its a sad state of affairs in the British isles (geographically, not politically - this includes the island of ireland) Drinking culture is ridiculous!

And the eastern Europeans (not all) fit in very nicely to this! And from being in Poland - i can see the same culture is there.

I dont drink as much as i used to - maybe 3-5 pints over an entire night and maybe a short or two for special occasions but even then - i am prob not in the pub more than once a month!!

What are yer views? drinking level?

I am Polish. I dont drink at all.

See...drinking is common world-wide. I cannot believe that it is a unique Polish culture. Poles can be a happier nation if we can get rid of this curse.

I call alcohol a Curse.

It's not the alkohol....it's irresponsible people with no self control.

Alcohol makes us loose alot of control. Why do we have to consume this? Is this addictive, that we must consume this?... Human society cannot develop without this?

Alcohol does nothing good for us. Many people find methods to advocate its place in our society, but all is as fake as it could be. We are better without it than with it.

Alcohol, I believe, like many other elements on earth, have other ways to serve humanity. We can use it for fuel purposes, clearning purposes etc. Not everything found on earth (which are useful to manking) is for drinking and eating!

Along with Drugs (party or any other name you give it), tobbacco...alcohol should be strongly discouraged and if possible, never tasted even. My must we taste it? Why must be associate our dine with it!

Any toxic substance with can cause harm to human physic, mind or moral... should be withdrawn from his life.

This is my opinion... and it thought goes over it in a justified manner... I am sure some logic will be found.
