What's So Great About The UK?

I am 23 years of age and have been in glasgow my whle life, how long you been here

That says it all really. 23 years and never even left Glasgow. Maybe if you left and saw a bit more of the world (or even Britain) you'd have a less secluded attitude.

were born in one of englands most beautiful cities

har de har :)

I was born in Banff, Scotland so I had a bad start, lol. I lived in Aberdeen for 23 years, should I stop now? The UK has great natural scenery, Cumbria/The Lake District in England for starters, the Highlands of Scotland and, eh, some fine hills in Wales. The scenery, that's where it's at!!

re whats so great about

good :),and I agree, some ignorent "brits" do take the attitude you highlight Matyjasz. Not myself Im afraid,so I take umbridge at being lumped into a homogenous mass of "the brits" that is as insulting as saying all Poles are rascist skinheads, some are, most probably not.

I shall not call you a homogenous brit no more. :P Besides, that previous post was tongue in cheek.

yes,Im afraid I take the fact that britains schools and NHS were overstreched even before 2004 a little seriously, especially when Poles are just the latest, and by far the largest groups of imigrants to add even more presure to those sevices many of us have been paying for for a very long time with our taxes. Would you be happy if your childs primary school suddenly had say 10 non Polish speaking kids in each class and your child lost out due to all the resources being pumped into the non polish kids?

I don't know about the state of NHS before the huge influx of Poles into your country. I also don't know in what percentage the accusations of the likes of noimmigration are true and in what way they are just the outcome of mass hysteria instigated by the tabloids. Bu what I do know is that the poles in your country are playing by your rules. They are doing only things that you allow them to do. Nothing more and nothing less. The outcome of this situation is that a group of your country men are blaming my people on the decisions made by other group of your people. Quite funny actually.

Now, as for your question:

Would you be happy if your childs primary school suddenly had say 10 non Polish speaking kids in each class and your child lost out due to all the resources being pumped into the non polish kids?

I doubt that anyone would be happy about it. And if you and other Brits are as well than why don't do something about it? Allow children in to a school only if its English language skills are on a satisfactory level. Let the people think twice before moving into your country. You will see that the problem will solve itself by ITSELF. You don't like that Eastern Europeans can claim benefits after a one year working in the UK? Make it 5 years! You will see that no one will complain because it is YOU who make the rules in GB and not immigrants. But than again it's definitely easier to b!tch about the darn foreigners than actually do something. (and before you get offended I wasn't thinking about you in this paragraph).

Personally I understand more or less what your people are going through right now. I’m sure that sooner are later I will have a similar conversation here in Poland with some xenophobic Poles. Still I don’t like the fakers like noimmigration spreading bollocks about my people, like about the threat of molesting English children as the age of consent in Pl is 16 years old.

You don’t like that more and more people are talking in polish on your street and feel intimidated by it? Fine. I’m sure I would feel the same way if suddenly half of my street talked in English, German, Mozambique or whatever. But say it as it is and don’t make things up and talk crap on a internet forum.

England has such a difference between its countryside and its cities. Name a city, it's probably ugly as sin but the countryside is really something. England should be proud of its green areas. Scotland, on the other hand, has less of a divide between the cities and countryside. I'm referring to Edinburgh and Glasgow only. Dundee and Aberdeen are not so nice. The countryside is quite spectacular too. If u get a good golf course out in the sticks, all the better. Playing at Muiryshade (Forres), Hardhillock (Elgin), Cullen and Grantown were just pure heaven. I guess English courses are also top notch out in the woods

Bath. London (see Waterloo Bridge). St. Albans (a bit small for a city, but...) Durham, Oxford, Cambridge (I could have mentioned one without the other).

This is a bit of a sweeping statement. For some cities it may true that only their centres (original parts) are beautiful and that their outskirts are dismal. This could also be said to be true about the two Scottish cities you mentioned. Edinburgh and Glasgow are a bit dismal in some of the outlying areas. Mostly in England the smaller cities are the "prettier".

Dundee and Aberdeen are not so nice.

Have to agree.

lol,Im guessing you dont mean "me" in that but,I love it,I can "spy" on 'em and they never guess I understand Polish till I tell 'em :)

The outcome of this situation is that a group of your country men are blaming my people on the decisions made by other group of your people. Quite funny actually.

Im glad you can see the "funny" side of this, unfortunatly there is a groundswell of ignorent people that ,rather than face the fact they have little say in what our Govt' does , instead blame "the Poles", It was only today again that I had to point out the fact that in the 80s "we" were in the same position,ie going off to west Germany to find work......

Newcastle is a great city. It was officially voted as the 8th best party city in the world. Being in the top 10 is a great achievement but we all know that it was just one person or group's opinion. Any Newcastle appreciaters?

Cheetham Hill

Glad to hear,it had potential, havnt been there for a couple of years but, being warned by locals to "run down any lads on bikes that come anywhere near your car.." kinda made me home sick for the other side of the pennines :)

Happy as Hull

Manchester is ' the best'

Opinions like this are what prevent my Welsh-born, southern England-educated former Geordie returning from Ireland brother from turning into a Scouser.

Any Newcastle appreciaters?

Me. I miss going up there for holidays.

Wales and the Welsh seem to be very much under-represented on this forum.

On the other hand, Scots, Scotland, England and the English - there's far too much of us.
Seanus  15 | 19666

Far too many of us, exactly!! There needs to be a counterbalance

I don't think I could interest my flatmate in this site if I even wanted to.
I wouldn't want him here anyway - I wouldn't so easy get away with telling everyone things like:
The other day he put his clothes in the washing machine, switched it on, pulled his clothes out an hour later and said
"I forgot the washing powder."

edit: If you didn't know by now that he's Polish, you obviously find my posts boring, so why are you now reading this one?

If you're a troll, ALL POLES FORGET THE WASHING POWDER PRETTY MUCH EVERY OTHER WASH.

Putting the cart before the horse. That's like putting bread into a toaster and waiting for quite a while, while u do sth else and then return and find u didn't push the lever down. Or the kettle, that's another classic.
