Is it possible for a Polish citizen to fly to England for a short holiday with just an ID card?
Have had mixed responses from searching google. Most reliable info from British embassy says Poles can travel with a passport or ID card, is this correct?

Yes. Polish ID is equal to passport in all EU countries.

are you guys sure about this? It is my understanding that you still need a passport to enter the UK at this time. Maybe I am wrong?

Yes, you are wrong. Polish ID is enough to enter UK (based on my own experience).

I think it's the British who are the odd ones out (suprise suprise) when we have to take passports everywhere in the EU.

Yeah, it's all about UK not being in Schengen and not having IDs. Poland managed to negotiate the right for all it's citizens to travel around EU countries with only IDs in accession deal.
