In Poland, IC trains with open compartments: some rows have the seats situated so that there actually is no window (well, very little of it) by the window seat. How can I know which rows these might be, so that I can avoid sitting next to a wall next time I travel? Just wanna watch the views to make the time go by...

Ask for a window seat when buying a ticket. Besides, you're not really bound to sit as assigned, if the train is not full. That's what I did on my last trip to Poland.

Contact the service provider. They should be able to help you out. This site polrail.com - PolRailService may be able to help you out. At the very least you can contact them and ask customer service.
