train Berlin to Warsaw

Hi

I have to travel from Berlin 6th sept to Warsaw to a wedding and back 11th and can I make sense of the interail site?! The Polish reail website has a deal on for 19 and 29 euros, but it's all in Polish AND you have to book and collect tickets 3 days in advance and we don't arrive in Berlin till 4th... The 'helpfu'l people on the phone in the UK quoted us a massive £185!!!

if anyone knows how to do this, we'd be most grateful for the info. Getting most frustrated here.

Go into a travel agency and ask. At least you will be able to discuss it.

have you tried this?

bilet.intercity.pl/irez/

it says it's for buying Inter City tickets online (and the final step is printing your ticket, so it seems you don't need to collect your tickets at the railway station - you probably need only the ID card/passport which number you give while placing your order), you may also buy tickets for 5 other persons (but you need to fill their personal data and on the train they also need to have the ID stated in the order)

it's a Polish Railways site:

pkp.pl - then you scroll down and click the link "Kliknij aby kupić bilet" ("Click to purchase a ticket")

I'm guessing German railways (Deutsche Bahn) has a similar system (I saw the same prices - 19 euro for a day train and 29 euro for a night train) also on Italian and Austrian railways website, so it's a pan-european deal, not only Polish, in case you thought buying the tickets from Poland would be cheaper

You can buy it directly in Berlin Hauptbahnhof (Central Station) or buy it in advance through bahn.de it costs 39 euro each direction for adults over 26 years old.

Thanks everyone for your help--I have managed to locate the 39 euro one, but still can't locate the ones advertised at 19 and 29.
I'll try and collect at the station in Berlin and hope it's as cheap to buy on the day as in advance.

here goes .... and thanks again for the help.

This is perfect advice. I am planning to travel from Warsaw to Berlin in October. Last time I was in Berlin was 1988 and has changed a tad since then. Going to spend a day running around and back on the train heading west...

I also found the German interail page bahn.de very good too.

I rode this train, it said Berlin Warsaw Express on it. I only took it from Poznan to Warsaw. It was very modern, smoothe and quiet... no fun at all!!! But the A/C worked wll:-)
