Szczecin -> Bydgoszcz by train....is it sensible and safe?

This is my first post, so forgive me if this is in the wrong section...

I've been to poland many many times in the past, but have got a quick question.

I'm going to Bydgoszcz in december, but due to some business i have to do on the way, i'm flying into szczecin and plan to get the train to overnight train to bydgoszcz..

My question is this...i've never travelled overnight in poland and i see this route is covered by Tanie Linie Kolejowe...is it safe / sensible... etc?

Any help gratefully received...

Tom

Hello Tom , welcome to the forum.. I am a Brit who is living in Poland in the region you are talking about...Szczecin airport is actually Golienow , and its not exactly a short walk to Szczecin rail station , although you may be able to get a taxi....If you look on a map you will see its not really near Szczecin...

I am afraid i can,t advise you on how safe it is on the trains as i have never travelled on them but i do know you get some dodgy people around the stations , as you do in any country...

If you are not able to sort something out i am quite happy to pick you up from Goleniow which is about an hours drive from me and take you to Bydgoszcz...just give me a bit of petrol money...

Keep an eye on your stuff, and you will be safe. There's nothing scary about Polish trains.

Well.. i have never done that at night either... but as long as you are careful everything should be ok, I believe. Anyway, welcome to Bydgoszcz. In case you have any problems/questions while setting the trip, you PM .I can help you as I live here

Hi guys!

I'm also traveling from Timisoara to Bydgoszcz by plane&train on Wednesday, as far as I've heard there are a lot of happy people in the trains due to the alcohol "running through there veins", is this true?

Very slow trains, strange, 130km in 3.5 hours, from Poznan to Bydgoszcz.
Good night!

Firstly, thank you to WildRover - i will defintely bear that in mind - my plans may well change now so i might not end up Szczecin after all but in Poznan! Argh...my only experience in Poznan ended up in drunken carnage so i'm not exactly relishing a night there again...

Now lena21_02 - as a bydgoszcz resident, whats your favourite bar / club ? I'm a fan of a few drinks in savoy, followed by lots more in Euphoria.... What about you ?

(i'm unable to pm you yet as i'm a new member and the site won't let me!)

I am a fan of a drink in El Jazz, followed by some others in Mózg. There is a new place in Bydgoszcz Lizard King (going to try it myself tomorrow), you may add it to your combination. Enjoy!:)
