Polish rutted roads

I drove to Krakow and back to Wroclaw a couple of days ago and although its nothing new to me, driving on the A4 around Krakow just highlights the fact of the problem with Polish asphalt.

Why are the roads so rutted? Im driving in the rutts at points on the inside lane and when you switch lanes its almost like mounting a kerb at 120 KMH, why, why, why?

The A4 for the most part is a EU standard motorway, rock solid and un rutted but as soon as you pass the toll East on the way to Krakow it all goes to shite. Did somebody not lay the motorway foundations properly or what?

It gives the locals the opportunity to blame their bad driving on the condition of the roads. A carefully thought out plan to once again avoid responsibility

I remember a few years back when we had a hot summer that all heavy goods vehicles had to travel at night. They were just carving up the roads.

I guess part of the problem is caused by overloaded TIR's on a soft surface.

hot summer

I think you hit the nail on the head there Wroclaw, you know the off road (pavement) parking opposite the prison and court house on Podwale? You can see tyre marks on the pavement where its literally melted under the cars.

As I drive around the 3M I notice melted road surfaces with tire marks strangely disappearing off the road...

just showing off the quality of our work to euro2012. lol

american lorries are most likely heavier and no such issues here and our roads are 1/2 what the autobahn is.

Yes there are a number of badly rutted roads in Poland...but if you really want some ruts , try Ukrainia or Belarus...now there are some super ruts.....Not long i rode my Harley to Ukrainia....never come so close to disaster so many times in my life...then of course there are the ten inch deep potholes....
