Any suggestions about taking taxi at night in Poland/Katowice?

Hi all, I'm going to Katowice next month. I'll arrive at the airport about 23:00. Then I will head for hotel. Probably I should take a taxi (It's too late to take a public transportation). Could anyone give me any suggestion about taking taxi at night in Poland/Katowice? How will it charge? Anything I should pay attention to?

There is a bus that will take you at 23:30 to the centre, but you may not be able to catch that.
Then the next option is a taxi, make sure you go with one of the taxi's at the taxi rank and not one of the guys that will hang around offering you a taxi as the are fly taxi's and not official one's.

The fare should be no more than 50zl, you may be able to catch one of the private minibuses but I think at that time of night they will be finished, if you do the fare will be around 20zl.

Have a piece of paper with the Hotel and street written down on it if you don't speak Polish.

That's what I was basing it on 30 mins, according to my local rates, so maybe someone a bit more local could give a better assessment of the taxi fare.

I took a taxi from Lublin to Pulawy 55klms and it cost me 100zl and we have strangely for this area some of the highest charges for fuel in the country.

*edit*
Wroclaw Boy I am a bit perplexed as to why you took the A4 when it’s the opposite end of the City from the Airport, unless of course you were coming from that end.

More like 80zł. I think they lay on late night buses tho. Worth investigating.

The same is with Krakow. It was a 40-minute bus trip to get to the airport from the centre. I took the train the last time, only 25 mins.

Thanks guys. I'm going there for business visiting. If only around 100zł I think it's still affordable. However, as I check in the google map, the airport is really far away from the city center..................O_o!

Hi it's me again.

I'm looking for the train/railway station of Katowice in google map. But it seems a little bit hard for me because I don't know Polish at all. Could anybody tell me the name or address of the station? Thanks so much...

I once did some research and the taxis were supposed to cost about 200 złotych which is really much for that short distance, maybe it has changed :)

Here you can find links to timetables of different bus companies, maybe at 23.00 they will be still going.

As I said above the last bus is at 11:30pm if you wish to check the time tables.
