I saw a few young people (probably hooligans) getting fined for drinking alcohol on the train only a few weeks ago.

Serves them right.

To be honest, if you want to drink on a train, there's nothing stopping you - the police are hardly going to check every bottle!

Maybe an amusing compromise could be to ban drinking in all but 1st class...

Having said this, they could probably just ban alcohol from all but IC and EX services, with an exception for alcohol consumed in sleeping cars (not couchettes, though). That would probably solve most of the problems overnight.

The police has probably never walked around on trains to check if people are drinking any alcohol. But the train security guards appear often when you least expect it. And if the find you drinking alc. the will most likely fine you.

Theres nothing better than a booze train or beer bus to a football game

Or to a casino for that matter. I like watching the passengers get drunk and making fools of themselves.

noones gonna ask questions

You're wrong, you can get a 100zlotys fine for drinking on a train and it doesn't matter whether you are completely silent or not. I've seen it few time and got fined myself for drinking a beer on train by train guards.

I'm all for drinking in a cultured, responsible manner on trains, not for getting plastered, making a ruckus and annoying fellow passangers..

Like I was saying above, limit drinking to EX, IC, EC and private sleeping compartments and much of the trouble will vanish. The idiots (as far as I've seen) won't travel by expensive trains.

Good suggestion, delph. It's like charging 2PLN for the toilet. I'd use it less reluctantly if I knew some drunk hadn't been there.

Planes have first class, why can't trains have some class? ;)

Coke & Rum. Coca Cola Bottle. Problem solved.

:)

Just a suggestion..

At the end of the day i suppose those of us that can have a drink without wanting to cause bother to anyone will suffer due to the plonkers that can,t behave after having a drink....
