I'm going to Warsaw next week-end to meet a beautiful Polish girl. We don't know each other very well having met only once in Paris. What restaurants and discos would you recommend? What's the nicest part of the city to visit?

I've never been to Warsaw
Thanks in advance
Jerome from France

Jerome, If you girlfriend lives in Warsaw, I am positive she knows good restaurants and she will be happy to suggest one if needed :). There are so many restaurants/discos there that it's difficult to choose or recommend one. Frankly, Warsaw is not a very beautiful city -- too much of the Western style on the Eastern foundations (you'll see what I mean when you get there). I think there are some nice and romantic restaurants outside the city - which I as a girl would prefer.

Good luck and tell us how it was!

Thanks Misia. Are you saying Polish girls are romantic?? I don't want to hear negative things about Warsaw (I've often heard Krakow is much more beautiful), I'm going there with an open mind.. what about Polish guys and girls out there, speak up for your capital, come on! I could write a book about meeting a girl in Paris.......thanks for your replies

Well, Polish girls are very romantic (most of them at least :). Warsaw is nice, but not in the winter time (not only Warsaw though). It's something different and since Warsaw is located in the center of Poland, you can easily transport either to North to see the Baltic sea, or South to visit the mountains or Krakow area. I'm sure you won't have any troubles finding someone who can speak English there - you may try the university campuses to be sure! :)

warsaw is not that great of a city, if u want to visit something more romantic try krakow ot wroclaw, they are much more romantic and nicer. Warsaw is to industrialized of a city. There are way better cities in poland than warsaw, but since ur meeting her there u should ask her where she wants to go, she'll know because she is most likely more famillar with the city.

Yep... also, most Poles don't like people from Warsaw (even though they go to Warsaw to get a better job for example). I'm not exactly sure why, but this is what I often hear...

Really, i never heard that before

Yep - most likely it's because Warsaw people are more like "from the West" and they make more money, are more successful, and ... boastful sometimes. I'm talking about people who were actually born in Warsaw; those who came there from different parts of Poland look at it in a different way...

Yes, it's basically the same - maybe except the Tatry mountains area (Zakopane) -- but if you know Polish you should understand too :).
