any tips for Asian exchange student going to Kraków?

I'm from Singapore (South East Asia) and I'm going on exchange to JU in Kraków next January. Simultaneously nervous and excited as it's my first time in Europe! I have some Polish friends but they will be in different parts of Poland, so I am pretty much on my own. What are the important or useful things I should know about Kraków?

Some burning questions off the top of my head... what sort of clothes I should bring (ie. what do girls wear), where to get Asian groceries, should I get a Polish bank account or rely on Cirrus ATMs. My friends have given me some good advice like coming in on a Schengen Visa so I can travel around in summer, but they are Warsaw and Poznań boys and don't know Kraków well.

I'm in the process of learning Polish on my own but unfortunately, there are no formal language classes taught in Singapore. Are there any good internet resources? I'm learning from tourist handbooks which are simple but not very good.

Any help would be appreciated! Thank you!

Firstly, I'm sure it's only a typo, but it's 'UJ' not JU...
secondly, acts and behave as you would do in any other normal country.
Find a school to learn Polish - although you'll do fine with just English.
Sort yourself good accommodation adn don't get cheated.

Actually UJ should offer Polish courses. I'll be there all year. It seems most Poles now a days embrace multi-culturalism especially the college students. For learning Polish check out this link 101languages.net/links/polish_language_links.html

Clothes well just dress European scarfs, jeans, and shirts. As well as more formal clothing for nicer events.
