You could buy a house without problems. Land too, if you have a Polish citizenship.

Rather You have no polish citizenship- but maybe it's possible to gain it. And also it's possible to buy a land formally needing permition without it. I'm a lawyer so contact for details- if you are interested

Brian - if you want to get Polish citizenship it should be straightforward. I know people who have only one great grandfather or grandmother who was Polish but still got citizenship. Talk to the Polish consulate in London and see if you have any paperwork such as the birth certificate of your father. If not you might have to get a solicitor in Poland to track it down for you.
