Hi there.
We're going to Wroclaw to find a home. We must file an applicationn with the Minister of Interior in Poland for permission to purchase a home (as Americans). We are of Polish ancestory and we have Polish relatives currently living in Poland.

Anyone done this before? Can you provide tips? Can we get permission BEFORE we select a home, so that we can prove to the seller that we qualify? Seems to me sellers would be hesitant to work with us if we aren't guaranteed permission. Any tips are greatly appreciated!

Thanks!

If you want to buy a house because you're going to live in Poland (have signed contract to work or something) then there shouldn't be any problems with permission. But otherwise It may be difficult.

Hello,
You cannot get a permission/permit before you buy something. You get a permit to buy a specific house/plot. So you need to have a pre-notary agreement.

The sellers need to be ready to wait 3 months or more before a decision is received and before the final agreement can be signed.
Find a good lawyer in your area and he can the prepare application for you.
He knows which papers you would need, you need lots :(
