I think he is what is needed at a time when Poland has a voice. IMO he should speak out more. He presents as a man who truly loves his country.

He is one uncultured, single minded, close minded autocrat with tunnel vision. If he could he would be a dictator, he just doesn't know it... I know these are strong statements about someone who has some brains, but brains are not enough. A President has to be well rounded and have more common sense. He is pure embarrassment to Poles and Poland! He may have good intentions, but as some say it in Poland "Hell is paved with good intentions". He has no idea of the world that surrounds Poland. I think he is an anachronism.

Poles dissatisfied with President and government
Polish Radio
16.12.2008

73% of Poles say that Lech Kaczyñski is a bad president, according to
results of a December poll by TNS OBOP. Only 21% say that the
President is good at his duties.

Meanwhile opinions on Prime Minister Donald Tusk are halved: 47% say
he is a good premier, 44% say he is not.

59% of respondents were critical of the whole government in contrast
to 35% who were satisfied with its work.

Whatever he falls out with Tusk over next, clearly ;)

Having said this - Poland really does need to elect some leaders with some charisma. Tusk has absolutely no charisma and is safely one of the most boring PM's in Europe. Meanwhile Kaczynski just appears to be a lost little old man who needs taken back to the care home.

Come on, elect some personalities!

Much like California elected Arnold, Poland needs to elect Pudzian. His first Sejm session should consist of lifting and throwing people around for maximum distance and prosperity.

I can agree he has no charisma but it is not a problem. I am not a sheep (sorry Seanus) who needs a charismatic leader. I like Tusk for being so normal. A boy from the neighbourhood.

I can agree now. :):):)

Our system (European) prevent competent people from holding political posts. They stay out of politics and concentrate on business activity. This is sad true that only populists can successfully compete in elections, you cannot skip this barrier...

I like Tusk for being so normal. A boy from the neighbourhood.

Heartbreaking...

Yes, I agree with you. Kaczynscy head the list of biggest populists in Poland. :):):)

Heartbreaking...

Yes. I was crying while saying it.... Looking at the picture of Tusk hanging above my bed!

The Kaczynski bros had the right ideology in terms of ridding Poland of these parasitical communists still lingering to power like the vermin they are, though the radical path they chose was such a travesty and in the end their undoing. Right path, wrong implementation and such a lack of common sense.

What is missing in this thread is some girl claiming that she support Tusk because he is 'cute'. :)

What radical steps? They did nothing because their purpose is to always chase rabbit (verbally) but never to catch him. This is interest of their party.

Its funny this question was asked and I did not see it earlier as I wrote a Post on the President of Poland: poland-claritaslux/blog/why-the-polish-president-is-a-great-man/

I think he is great. Many people do not like him, but the reality is he is a patriot and stood up for Poland, unlike the last president who gave key Polish industry to foreigners.

Today our President impressed me. He lit the candle in a Jewish synagogue in Warsaw, starting the holiday of Chanukah.

President Lech Kaczynski lit the first Chanukah candle in the Warsaw synagogue them . Blades. So began the celebration of the Jewish holiday of lights in Poland. Recalling the difficult history of the Jews who lived in Poland , Kaczyński said that the feast of Hanukkah is the " last word celebration of Polish independence ."

The President recalled that 90 years ago, when the revived Polish state , 10 percent of the country's population were Jews . He called Israeli Prime example Menachima Begin, who served in the army Anders , and - despite the involvement of the Zionist movement - has not left the ranks of the Polish army until he was released from it.
