I hate to repeat myself but here goes:

Don't hate:::I enjoy your posts because you're a very level headed person, regardless if you agree or not. I'm always pleased to see them Mat :)

don’t think that many Americans even know that Poland takes part in “the war on terrorism”. I don’t think that an ordinary Americans cares actually. :)

Actually, we do. Many of us have families/friends that live overseas. We're fully aware of who's sending troops and who isn't. Believe me, if there are countries that don't support America, media lets it be known....like issues with France for example. The media tried to get everyone to boycott French products.

It seems that Europeans care more about us, which, because of the geographical position of our countries is obvious

Of course :)

i gotta say fisz, ive nothing to add to it. its a topic i am not able to add to in any meaningful way. sorry bud.

to be on topic id have to say id have thought that polands view would be the same as ireland as so many of us both emmigrated there and share an affinity to the states and vice versa.

however like ireland today - i can see how our views have been strained by the foreign policy of the last 8 years.

USA invaded Afghanistan and Iraq not because of Al-qaida, but because of the oil.

I think every American is aware of this idea. That's what a lot of the protests were about.

He’s just being used by American government to keep American society in constant fear.

And to make things worse, it seems that every single person who makes a terrorist threat against the US or attempts an act of terrorism claims that they were sent by bin laden. I don't know if it's true but that's what they usually claim. The US gets terrorist threats all the time, for public gatherings, sports stadiums, parades, buildings...

Besides, while we can move freely throughout the whole EU, we have to get a visa in order to go to USA.

And it's gotten even harder to get one since 9/11.

Al-Qaida as such doesn't exist anymore like it did during 9/11 or on the bombing of that embassy in Kenya a year or 2 before or the bombing of that American ship somewhere around that time-frame too.

It's not centrally coordinated anymore. The terrorists use the name as what it stands for: Bin Laden, fear, terrorism, panic, extremism, media attention, etc..

Any terrorist can make a "branch" & call it al Qaida.

No need Mat. your posts are excellent even when I disagree.
I don't think Afghanistan was invaded because of oil, their arrogant attitude on question of handing out Osama was the reason. Talebans should have been put even before but Clinton wanted to keep the poppy fields burned down as was the practice of Talebans. So Talebans got away with their s**t like oppressing women.

Iraq was another case, but Saddam Hussein was still a risk. Maybe not alone, but allied with others...And it also set an example to others: Gaddafi is "domesticated" now compared what he was in 80s.
