I guess if I had to witness the treatment and killing of the animals I'd never eat meat again. How can any of it be humane? I try not to think about what I'm eating. Tongue! Eggs! Yuck!
HUMANE TREATMENT FOR CHRISTMAS CARP in POLAND
That's wrong!
The world is a cruel place. These fishes will soon die and be eaten. Giving them more space won't really change anything except giving some a selfish feeling how cool humans are.
Wisdom from the backwaters I see :)

I wasn't talking about the eating of it but the treatment of keeping it in conditions where it can't move. That's wrong!
I guess but it's tradition just like bullfighting in Spain. Not for outsiders to judge, imo.
Carp are pretty lazy fish anyway.. it's not like they swim too much.
Wisdom from the backwaters I see :)
The ultimate wisdom...
Well, that's a tough one, Scrappy. Should we leave all countries to regulate their own affairs when it comes to tradition or should we intervene on cruelty grounds?
Carp being lazy is a good point. They are big and docile so that makes it more acceptable.
The ultimate wisdom rests with God and you are not him, are you Greg? ;) ;)
Say that you are and all the Jews here will have your head in the guillotine.

I don't know.. good question. I'm not in the EU so I don't know. Of course, in the US , PETA can be Nazis in this regard. The band Faith No More got yelled at in the 90's because in one of their videos they had a fish flopping around dying. Pretty stupid if you ask me.
No offense but the British are kind of weird about this too. My friend keeps saltwater fish.. namely Lionfish.. well they have to eat live feeder fish, goldfish and guppies, etc. He told me that's illegal on cruelty grounds in the UK.
FNM were an awesome group in their time and I can't believe people focussed on what fishermen see every day.
None taken as I'm Scottish. They got round part of the problem in Scotland by saying that fishing was an art and that you had to throw many fish caught back into the water.
The thing with the EU is delicate balance. Telling Spain what's what is a bold step and some things in life we just have to grin and bear. With enough pressure, they might bend but I doubt it.

"Don't harm any animal you wouldn't intend to eat. If you did harm it - eat it" - that is a Polish way. Therefore an UK law that allow me to catch a carp but not consume it is barbaric.

"It's OK to eat fish cos they don't have any feelings" - K. Cobain
There's 'Something in the Way' and it's you, Dave ;) ;)
rates, I don't need to mention how brutal white men have been in the past.
Rubbish, we tortued these natives for their own good look how rubbish Africa was before we came and how awesome it is now.
Serving hamsters is just wrong. Are you sure it was hamster? That's rotten!
Or a gerbil, the Asian fellow claimed it was a hamster and was focking proud of it too, it defenitely looked like one.

Holy sh*t Scrappleton, you said something smart! And i dont mean it in a sarcastic way either.
It is not for whities to go on the rampage and convert everyone to our way of being, is it? God made man, for better or for worse, and imperfections were inherent. Many made a mess of Africa and you know it. Yes, we helped but they didn't ask for it. Did Poland reach out with a needy hand to the EU, Sok?
Well, there are some oddballs around for sure.
Says the man who seems to think Belarus, Ukraine, Lithuania, Slovakia and every other country around Poland is Poland's business. Let me guess, Kalingrad should be Polish too, right?
Maybe we should put you in that fishtank, Sok, what do you think? ;) ;) You might find your rightful home at last :) ;)

I doubt it, people are allowed to feed snakes with mice, frozen or alive, so I doubt they'd be that bothered about goldfish.
As for carp being kept in small tanks, they are fish who cares? Only fury animals count :D

I want names, dates and a copy of the menu or it didnt happen!

Dates i dont recall but i'll give you the name and place i'll just browse through my gadu-gadu archive from 2007 October when i was telling my friend about it, it was named in Chinese (or Japanese, or something Asian) and we were curious what it was, we were served some sort of a grilled rat, we asked what it was and got "a hamster".
The guy was a nice fellow and seemed proud of it so we waited till he left, left the money on the table and focking ran.
It was somewhere on the edge of Richmond Park, i'll find it out for you and pm the place.

I think someone was having you on here perhaps?
There is no way a hamster would be served up as food in the UK....
Was it a dream do you think? Bit like Alice in Wonderland ....LOL
:)
I agree with Lir. Hamster just wouldn't pass at all. Food inspection authorities would go nuts if they found out, as would most humanitarian people.
When we brought it into the boat, the captain took a ball bat and beat the holy heck out of that fish to kill it.
Yes, that sounds wrong... It's the same with seals in Canada... can't they shoot them or use some electric stuff ?
But I don't agree with carps... they have quite a lot of space when they are bred and that they don't for few days when they are in the stores... well, complaining about It is too much tree-hugging for me...

Sorry bud it happened, we got served a rat.

In UK? You have no focking idea what happens in most minority ghettos anyway (though that wasnt in or anywywhere near one).
I didn't know that you frequented the minority ghettos, Sok. Now I do :)

All highly developed animals possess the ability to feel pain and stress.
Also notice that severe stress is quickly lethal to many animals (a painful way to die).
So these animals should be treated well while being alive.

HUMAN TREATMENT OF POLISH CARP
Now let's look at this topic...
Me, I really don't care for fish, except White Solid Albacore tuna, which I love, in a tuna salad.
Fish have feelings?...You remember Kurt Cobain of 'Nirvana'?...He say:
'It's OK to eat fish,
'cause fish don't have
no feelings...'
Do I like to see fish crowed into a filthy tank, one on top of another?...No...So don't eat the fish...Most of what you eat, if you saw it processed, you would stop eating altogether.

Is carp highly developed? The fish is on the lower end of the food chain and will be eaten. Give it enough water to breath in until it's time to cook dinner.
The only two seafood I can't stand: crabs and lobsters
I am always amazed fishing boats will go thru so much just to catch those spoilt tasting crabs. If it were up to me, they would never need a season because all crabs would be left in the sea. Same with icky lobsters.
All other fish taste ok.

Yes crabs are rather nasty, and I have never tasted lobster...My mother loves both, but I never had the urge.
A carp is a carp, it doesn't have sensitivity.
You know, the Russians and the Japaneses have these huge fishing ships, fish factories, where they catch fish by the tens of thousands, and gut them and process them on the ship, and freeze them...All types of fish...Then, these fish are marketed, at least here in the US, as 'crab legs' and this and that.
Chicken 'farming' in the US is also bad.

Check out the show Deadliest Catch on Discovery. It's about crab fishing in the Bering Sea and what they go thru just to fish crabs. I can't believe that many people want to eat it.
