Will Poland become green?

Is it so hard to believe that the Earth getting warmer might have something to do with the sun?

Not at all. It always good to hear both sides of the story.
Al Gore's story is made to scare people into crawling back under the rock instead of educating them. Funny, that he opposes building nuclear plants even tough it is the cleanest way to produce energy.

I come from Newcastle in England. We used to have an idium in England that went... "It's like sending coal to Newcastle".... an equivelent would be... "It's like selling sand to the Arabs".... My point was maybe it's time to stop burning coal just because you have it.

Funny thing about this is many Polish plants that use coal are now starting to buy cheaper coal from the Ukraine and Russia. Something to do with it being cheaper to mine. Apparently Polish coal takes more money to get because it's deeper in the ground.

Katowice and Silesia in general has horrid air quality because of all the coal plants and mining there. Sure it might be cheaper, but this stuff is horrible for the air.

I did to start with but rafik changed my mind on this thread!

The world is getting warmer may not be as bad as the real problem of humans breathing the pollutants. Lung cancer and other issues should relly be the concern. Throwing milliona t research for cures is not worth much when the source continues coughing up pollutants

So the answer is clean re-newable energy: wind: wave: solar etc??

again you didn't get the point

I do get your point rafik. What do you suggest to help me stop Poland getting ripped off in the Global warming rip off?

Your video has been removed from google video but I found it again here...

In 1997 and 1998 i had a wander around a place called Chernobyl and through an area that is known as the dead zone...My belief that nuclear power was a good idea took a bit of a dive during those visits...An aid delivery to a hospital in Belarus where thousands of kids are dying from radiation related illness kinda clinched it....

On the contrary. ( and I do not often dissagree with you) Should not your belief in the soviet philosophy be the real problem. They are the one who built the plant with a flawed design. I do not think this design exists anywhere else in the world. The new engineering designs with the automatic shut down that can not fail will be here to stay and we need more of them. Several more of them. All run by pols of course.

Sweden was hours away from a simular "incident"

The incident at Sweden's Forsmark plant underscores the vulnerability inherent in the process of producing nuclear energy. Experts say the accident won't be the last of its kind.

An incident which never occured .. are we not all hours away from a serious accident . Better look both ways crossing the street.

Three mile island wasn.t built by the Soviets , but that came close to a melt down..! Like many people i was ok with nuclear power untill Chernobyl and three mile island showed what can go wrong with this system , and i sure would not want to live next door to one....Last time i was in Chernobyl the people there were pretty sure the power plant is going to explode again , Just what the word needs..? I don,t know what the answer is , maybe it is nuclear power , but i will need a lot of convincing its really safe....Have a look at my friend Elena filatova.s website , she spends a lot of time getting a dose of radiation to tell the story of Chernobyl , if it does not make you cry then you are truly without emotion...

No one died from this event either It is the people behind the technology that are the most dangerous Coruption and that sort of thing. Study the new reactor designs. CHernobyl ! Can not happen! I have seen the pictures of the people there. They have suffered greatly. However, so has the little girl of my neighbor who had the frying pan of hot grease dumped on her head by accident. Then there are all the wars and devastation to people from them. and so on there will always be times of great suffering Chernobyl should always be rembered as why this technology is dangerous and must me regulated with great care and in the world today is just that. Chernobyl was a mistake and so was the Ford Pinto. many deaths Yet me must prevail as humans. we can not continue to polute the world with coal fired plants Far more people will suffer than only those a t Chernobyl.

Poland has got more important problems to worry about then going green.

Ask me the same question in 200 years time.

Poland has got more important problems to worry about then going green.

It is such a backward attitude to take, to think that doing things "green" is somehow less efficient, more of a burden and somehow detrimental to economic progress. It is full of opportunities and may be an important key to bringing a better, more prosperous, healthier future.

It is full of opportunities

True. The north american automotive industry is in severe trouble right now. Think of the possibilities if all of that engineering, manufacturing and financial talent were focussed on green technologies. We could reduce the consumption of fossil fuels (and ergo carbon footprints), create an abundance of green related jobs (design, manufacture, installation, maintenance....). This might also push the automakers to further develop and improve current electric vehicles and the infrastructure required to support electric vehicles.

Sounding a little like a hippie right now, huh?

electric vehicles.

Whilst i am all in favour of taking care of the planet , i really can,t imagine an electric vehicle giving me the same buzz as my 5.7 litre v 8 powered monster....Yes folks , it was me that did in the ozone layer...sorry....

really can,t imagine an electric vehicle

Too many batteries sitting arround poluting the water. Batteries do not last long enough! 5.7 L is way more engine than anyone needs. Turbo and supercharging gets the same results with less Litre. I do understand the symphony under the hood though.... Big block V8 power!

Poland need's to build 4 nuclear power plants to become green or else they never will.

There were some genuine efforts to make Poland green during communist times. Sometimes, when the communist party dignitaries traveled around faded grass was painted green ahead of time, so that it looked better for the camera.

Yup, kids painted grass with brushes and sprayers.

watch the begining of this move (British plans!!!). They want to make new taxes on poor countries. Britih as always want to make easy money on poor countries Fuk them !!!! Green technologies are good but I dont see the reason to pay money for dumb Brits. 1000 years ago whole Poland was full of vineyards later it was colder and now we are going to have what we had 1000 years ago. In this case British want our money!!!!

I support green tech but I laught when I see somebody talking about climate changes.
