How do people react when you tell them you are Polish?

For about 4 years when I lived in NYC an affluent Jewish family refused to believe I was not Jewish.

Glad to see how the amazing Jews look at Germans and Poles. After all it was Poles who practically forced Germans to attempt the extermination of all European Jews. And all Germans ever wanted was just to build BMWs.

First off I'm not Jewish I'm full blooded Polish born there came here when I was 9.

Nothing to hide.

And my dad is an anti-semite just like I was until the age of reason and I began to think with my own brain. I also realized all religions are just fake. ETC. ETC.

I like to think of myself as one of the 5% if you have any clue what I am talking about.

What does it matter anyway? You don't have to worry about "hiding" anything like it's some terrible horrible thing being jewish. You are either jewish or not. You have nothing to be ashamed of.

No mystery here.
Just read the foreign whiners who live in Poland and post here. The same creatures who have no integrity to leave the country and the nation they so despise.

Their conclusion is simple - Poland is a land of racists, whiners, idiots and incompetents. Poles caused pretty much all the worst wars (thanks god Germans stopped them), kill Jews for a hobby, expel Germans, don't know their own language and on top of it they put ketchup on their pizzas. Oh, and they smell and about the only achievement they have is kielbasa.

I don't know what their deal is. Maybe they are terribly alone?

Their deal is simple.

Most live off what they didn't have to work terribly hard to achieve. They speak in their native language, that happens to be very useful. Other than that they know or achieved squat.

The great "achievement" gives them the right, it seems, to be all knowing judges of Poland's worthlessness, even if the objects of their criticism are present in the countries they come from, often more ostensibly. Just because the half-brains speak the only language they had to learn, like about 6 billion people who had to learn their respective native languages.

This is not to criticize all anglo-speaking who live in Poland. There are a few decent folks who came across this forum.

They sound miserable and alone to me. How many of them are really in Poland? Maybe they were jilted by their Polish internet gfs so they are going to come to PF to complain?

Well written. I believe we have something to be proud of. Now let's just move onto owning that railroad.

I told a guy I worked with that I was Polish and he automatically thought I was Jewish. His ignorance annoyed me.

Some actually know it's somewhere close to the US border with China.

what a bull. No one that I know would ever say that. Whoever I ever talked to about it knew at least it was in Europe. I guess it depends on a level of people you're hanging around with.

That stereotype is... somehow I feel I have heard it somewhere, just don't know where. Maybe Harry? No impossible he is a nut but he knows how to behave?

Maybe Harry?

Don't be silly. Whatever the kielbasa is, it's certainly not an achievement.

Knew it, it couldn't be Harry! It would been too positive

I think kielbasa is an achievement but I would much rather own a railroad.

They usually ask me what are you so I tell them I'm Polish. Then they say ah huh and pause for a second. That means they don't know where it is so I tell them it's a country in Europe.

That's probably because they don't have the balls to tell you that you are. (I didn't say anything though!)

well said JustysiaS.
I worked with British people in Brussels and they didn't have major problems with PL poeple living in the UK. They were positive and often said that we were hard-working people.

For the Irish people that I came across in Belgium, they said PL people integrated quite well in Ireland as well.
Never had any of the negative reactions that I see so often on this forum.
