Certainly I can explain. These facts we name "assimilation". We will just absorb them and their descendants will hardly trace their real origins. We already absorbed alot of koreans, the same thing will be with our potential "conquerors".

The Chinese consider Russians as a kind of much lower civilization,
No chance for any form of assimilation.

Well, China is a different kettle of fish than Korea. They will not merely stand by and cede territory.

I keep making reference to Russian chess capabilities but it's useful here. However, the Chinese are getting better at this, they too are strong Grandmasters, they destroyed Scotland :(

You know what's at stake, CK, it is in your mutual interests to enter into bilateral agreements. Russia cannot afford to be complacent, the Chinese govt is crafty.

Russians are lower civilisation? He-he, just this morning I saw reporting on TV about Chinese guest workers who live on the dumb in Khabarovsk! You have a right to ask me, what they are doing there? May be they just build there another Great Wall?

Russians are lower civilisation?

For sure it's not my opinion but rather common in China.
And it makes any assimilation very hard.

I know another "great" nation who thought that it high above Russian. Should I remind you the end of this story?

Not only Russians are considered lower civilisation by the Chinese. Other too. Don`t forget it, for the Chinese everything behind their Great Wall is "barbarian" lands. :):):)

Boooouuuu... :):):)

Can you see now what avalanche you created with your stupid provocations??? Both Poles and Russians got buried under it.

Is that what you wanted to achieve? It is a peculiar form of masochism, I must say :):):)

well really i know several nations: Mongoliams, Turks, Poles, Swedes, Frenchs, Germans and even Japanese. The end was the same.

The end is that an average German drives a Mercedes while an average Russian drives his poor wife crazy with his alcoholism which is going to finish abruptly at 57 years of age, the average life span of males in Russia.

Well, the Russians helped to take Britain out of its policy of splendid isolation, abandoned in 1902. I'm not sure if this was necessarily a good thing but it helped to bring about a reassessment of our global position.

I do see modern day Russia as a potential threat but I prefer to view its actions as counters to American ambitions. America, were it to be serious, would not idly stand by and let Russia support Iran and Venezuela. But we all know that the media doesn't paint the full picture. There are many deals done in smoke-filled rooms and with cash flashed.

No body on your western border dreams about conquering Russia... in cooperation you can gain a lot. In long term - friendship with China is suicide for you.

I doubt that you will be able to play your cards on so many fronts without pernament aliance with somebody ...

And Poles, what an average Pole drives? Just dont refer on Katyn and how Russians steal your property!

Prince is right, dialogue is critical. Russia shouldn't bite off more than it can chew. As one of your colleagues has commented, CK, most Russians don't think as hegemonically as you do. Thank Goodness!!

I really don't understand it, you guys are very powerful in all manner of ways. You have many political tools and levers at your disposal. Is it just Russian roulette that you risk losing it all for some extra piecemeal concessions? Be proud of what Putin has done for you.

:):) I am not going to let myself be drawn into such a silly exchange. You are visibly flying off handle. :):):) which makes a discussion senseless.

Hey, maybe you are only pretending to be Russian???? And you are here on a clandestine mission to do everything to defame the Russian nation... ????

Nicely done, pawian. We rarely know people's true agendas or ulterior motives.

This is a discussion, not a slugfest. Where is Sasha? He is a voice of reason.

Ruskies are not stupid: They make some great technologies :

Russian Sukhoi Su-47 (Su-37) Berkut

and they play their own game .... but when oil prices go down ... some Russians change their opinion about their depsotic rulers we will see what will happen.

You are right our european friends are not into geography or history. Amur region might be considered as part of Tsin China, though bought by russians. Certainly Amur region is not Siberia

Apart from being intelligent, they are also beautiful. A Russian woman won Miss World 2008.

She is really nice. If not for that heavy make up around her eyes, she would be perfect.

Russia should be stretched from Alaska up to Scotland.

Aha... Russia is everywhere. :) Everything is Russia except for China.

As for possible Chinese invasion there were many good points made. I have to say the issue of China is clear for both people and government (Kostia is an expected exception who's always having fun). While studied Chinese missiles at the university our teacher who himself spent his youth in Habarovsk said: "Kitajci, kak sarancha". Which is "Chinese are like locusts". They don't know the word "enough". I don't think there's a room for serious cooperation or (and) assimilation. We're too different (thankfully) for both these. Hard to look for culture in the nation that considers quite ok to eat abortus fetus in 21st century.

Russian policy should be like being polite (not too friendly) and constantly watching her six (back) unless we wanna be backstabbed one day which is likely to be the last day. And I'm for cooperation with the "West" in case the day ever happens.

P.S. Const made one good point though... or well was about to make it. I'd prefer to see more Poles in Russia. Of course on the voluntary basis... in case some would recall our not the best past.

A bit like stretching from Chukotka to Chelsea?
