Well, I haven't spoken to him in a good few days now.. and I have "mentally" stood back.. and contact has ceased from him... if he does call again I will be straight with him, thanks you guys for the usual support and good advice!

Thanks Frank, I wanted to give him a chance, which I did. Now I've walked away from it.. fast. He texted this morning and I'm going to call him to tell him there is no future for us. Despite his lying crap he is human and deserves that at least..
