I'm a Scottish woman living with my Polish boyfriend... (yes I've now been to Poland!) the only thing I don't get is that my boyfriend seems to think that it's ok to get so drunk that he can't walk every weekend... He says it's the way Polish men are but i don't believe him... he's such a bastard to me when he's drunk but so lovely when he's not... what should I do? We live together just now and are trying to find a new flat together...

Hey, hey, don't let me generalize what is in a Greek man's nature :)

I'm half Polish, Eurola. I consistently drank Wodka as a younger man with my father and my uncles etc.. I know how it is! Greeks aren't much different in that respect either : )

what should I do?

1. You're going to have to put up with his drunkiness. You won't be able to do things with him when he's wasted so you'll be on your own.

2. Find another boyfriend.
3. Get some counselling if he's an alcoholic.

This relationship won't last unless you start drinking with him and don't know what hit you the next morning.
It's hard because you like the guy, then he goes into his own little alcoholic world, doesn't have control over himself what he does or says.

He's hurting you and if a guy does that, don't take any crap from him and get rid of him.

Not true, don't listen to the above responses. This guy can clean up and drink less. You don't have to break up with him. I'm sure he's a nice guy deep down. As long as he isn't hurting you physically, try getting him to stop.

I know some guys who don't drink and are worse than the guys who do!!
So yeah, if he's a nice guy try to help him understand that he's hurting you by drinking too much.

The only thing we know is that he is a bastard to her. IMO it does not matter if it is a physical or mental abuse, both are equally bad. He might stop for a while, but sooner or later he (most likely) will be back to his old ways.

Once in a while i get outrageously drunk, but i never hurt my girlfriend! Maybe he has a drinking problem? Why don't you help him by sending him to alcoholics-anonymous.org

Give him a chance.

For gawds sake lyndsey your Scottish !! I'm sure your Polish guy is no different to your previous Scottish boyfriends. The guy isn't doing anything that Scot's guys don't do at weekends, in terms of getting drunk.

As far as the b@stard bit goes, I won't comment since that is down to you to deal with.

Exactly what I've been trying to say. He won't change, why bother? If he has an obvious problem with it, get him some help. Otherwise, leave the poor Pole alone : )

Gotta be careful with the voddie, it kills off the brain cells pretty quickly. We don't drink whisky to excess in the same way. Then again, vodka isn't a classic connosieur's drink in the way whisky is

Alcoholism is a disease. If you want to live with a sick person it's your decission.
Drinking occasionally is good for you, but too much of a good thing isn't.

Who's to judge how much is good, and how much is bad? Wodka is good for the soul : )
