Are Polish men generally possessive?

My ex girlfriend - who was N. American - told me once that we (Poles) were able to be "closer" and were genrelay into relationship

I had a similar experience with a Polish man. He was able to be MUCH closer to me, emotionally, than anyone I had met. It was noticeable. And highly pleasant :)

Polish men are warmer and more loving and don't have barriers. Other men keep a cool distance and a wall in between.

Yes, a lot of men think that they must be cool and aloof to be a man. I think, it is the English culture which teaches the men to be reserved and not emotional. Polish men are able to show their feelings and say their thoughts.

"Polish men are able to show their feelings"
"Polish men are warmer and more loving"
...
it all sounded like we, polish men, come with a fairly nice package deal ... it's pretty nice to hear that we have such a good reputation among women out there :)

The more I read about national supposed traits, the more I smell BS. The Poles are a possessive bunch but who isn't? The women are reputedly far more possessive.

Is it normal for Polish people to only go out together if they are married or live together and not to go out with their friends seperately? Do all Polish men want their women to be at home most of the time?

surely this is not a matter of cultural differences as it is a matter of trust. which to me if a partner does not trust another partner there is something lacking in a relationship people of all nationalites need time to be themselves not just some-ones partner/ mother etc maybe your best mate who is a guy fancies you and your partner knows this which is why they don't get along

Many are. many aren't. Generally yes as they hold their women in high esteem. They are quite a catch in their eyes.

There are a certain possessive types of Polish guys:

-bald guys
-renault clio owners
-dentists
-volleyball fans
and of course part-time circus clowns

In Poland men own YOU.

surely this is not a matter of cultural differences as it is a matter of trust.

You can trust a woman not to be trusted :)

No they lie.

They lie

Don't trust them. Don't look at them. Don't touch them. All the men are the same. They have a dick and they lie.

thanks eurola.. i agree with you.. he is great at cleaning too! I consider myself to be a very independent person with a good job and large circle of friends.. however, I know that I have changed pretty radically since Ive been living with 'the Pole'. He doesnt really mind my girlfriends, but male (platonic) friends are a bit of a problem. My best mate is a guy and they hate each other.

Sapphire...I think it depends on the person. But as far I was dating with different guys (not only polish ones) they all don't believe in mail-female friendship unless the guy is a gay;-)

man thinks in a little bit different way then women. Based on my experience there is no way to have mail best friend. they always want "something" more;-) you are lucky then:)

Some things never get forgotten on here. I started this thread more than 2 years ago (in 2006) so although I appreciate the advice a lot has changed since then.
