The English language originated in England. I myself have always wondered why Americans have such a different accent to us.

And who is to say that Americans do not use it properly? Or the British?
I say they don't use it properly. For example, [in most cases] Americans don't use Present Perfect, they use Past Simple.

The American accent probably comes from the variety of cultures that settled America.

True Eurola. I can quote here A.J. Lerner like a example:"There even are places where English completely disappears. In America they haven't used it for years".
