FRom my understanding, dyngus day, the people who got hit with the water were the uncles who got too drunk on the easter vodka the day before.

The boys offered PUzzywillows to the betrothed, as there were no engagements or wedding during spring.

Wet Monday

A polish person that I was talking to today, told me about this tradition that happen on Easter Monday...now his English was bad, and my Polish worse...but i gathered that men and women throw water over each other on this day in nearly every city in Poland.

Could some Polish person , please tell us more about this old tradition?

It's already written about on the forum. But yes, you are going to get wet.

It should stop at midday.

I think that you need to get it done by noon. Someone could correct me on this though.

Now it's just fun, but in the past there was a tradition that on easter monday boys threw water at girls, the more soaked the girl was the more atractive she was considered. So it was really a sad thing for a girl not to get wet at all, no water=no husband, some sort of a fortune telling.

Due to current outside temperatures, anyone who attempts this tradition on me is going to be taking their lives in their own hands... :)

I'll have to go to B&Q to buy a bucket on Easter Monday. There's a rather nice looking Polish girl working there.

Before noon, you all say?

Be carefull Osiol....in the UK throwing water at somebody would be classed as an assault....she will probably sue you for zillions.......
