hot milk with honey and mashed... garlic. very effective.

but

tastes awful and if afterwards you want to talk to someone, use the phone.

Tammy's way is good to, but you may want to enforce is by mixing in a shot of strong alcohol.
the problem with hot alcohol is that you can instantly fell dizzy but it's a nice feeling :)

There are different variations of a " Hot Toddy "

This is a basic Toddy (some people add cloves and cinnamon)

1 ounce Whiskey
1 ounce Honey
1 ounce Lemon Juice
4 ounces Water (Hot)

And if your name is Tammy add 1 Boiled Toad :) :)

Another:
4 cups apple cider
1 cup cranberry juice cocktail
1/2 cup tequila
1/4 cup triple sec or orange-flavored liqueur
1/4 teaspoon of cinnamon
1/4 teaspoon of nutmeg
5-8 cloves, crushed
lime slices & cinnamon sticks for garnish
- In saucepan heat cider & cranberry juice. Stir in cloves, nutmeg & cinnamon. Heat until hot (do not let boil) & remove from heat.
- Stir in tequila & liqueur.
- Serve in mugs with lime slices & cinnamon sticks.

In Poland we add lemon or honey or raspberry juice to our tea. It's very tasty. I recommend it.

rasberry juice is the best. But I don't think that nice porper raspberry juice is awailable in UK.

I drink sometimes hot milk with garlic on the top. It not so bad but helps.

here's some noodles with cabbage....

Polish Noodles (Kluski z Kapusta)
Boil egg noodles medium thickness
Sauté in 1/4 pound of melted butter:
5 cloves garlic, minced
1 large onion chopped
1 very large head of cabbage (green) shredded medium when the vegetables are limp, add 1 Tablespoon of caraway seed and salt and pepper to taste. Drain noodles. Pour vegetables over noodles. Stir in 1 pint or more of sour cream. Sometimes I serve sausage and bread, but usually we just have bread. (Dark rye, homemade of course

chop the onions, put some sugar over it, let it sit until the juices start running, drink it. It is good for cough.
