I hope this isn't a stupid request. Here in United States there is this Polka called "hot dog polka" My daughter is doing a heritage project and she is in first grade. I was wondering if I can get a website or if someone can direct me to get this song or anykind of polka songs to burn onto a CD

Polka is not a Polish dance - it's Czech.

Hmmm real Polka music is difficult to define, but some of the popular names in the genre are Frank Yankovich(weird Als dad) Eddie baloncyk and the master Jimmy Sturr who is'nt Polish but is considered the King of Polka. Polka isn't Polish its probably an Americanized version of traditional Polish music like people said its Czech, But many Czech and Polish Americans claimed it as their own so people think it comes from Poland. I am not an expert on its origin though its somewhat like Diskopolo here in that everybody hates it until you've drank a few and then you dance your pupa off to it.

thanks. I hear a lot that people don't like disco polka. Here in Pennsylvania they love it. Polkas are on TV. They are even trying to make it the official music of Pennsylvania. Every Sunday they play it on the radio. My kids like it. Isn't that funny that everyone thinks it is from Poland heritage. I feel like I got one up on everyone.

you may also be looking for Matt (check the Spelling on this) Levenduski. Where he sing about everyones favorite fruit--no no i mean food. Dont know where you can find it. But in NW and central Pennsylvania is a large population of polish heritage. So every sunday morning from 9-12 is Q102.1 FM's Sunday morning Polka Party. And guarenteed that they play the hotdog polka once a week. Along with polka/Polish dance news, requests, etc etc
