Why Poles don't use Facebook?

Be very careful not to provide tooo much private info!

Yeah, I know that one... sneaky HR ppl will get you lol... that's why you have all these privacy options available... limited profile views for friends, no view for no-friends etc.

As for 'nasza klasa', I guess they're trying to make as much money on it as possible... plus there's this 'server down' message every evening - maintenance processes please try later blah, blah, blah... and somebody's saying facebook is slow haha... servers are never down.

I know some of you guys don't like any of the social networking and you'd rather meet your friend in person... fair enough, but what if somebody lives thousands of miles away... besides if you have time to post anything here I guess time is not an issue, right?

The same reason why Poles don't use ebay ;)

they do - ebay.pl

Good discussion, peace out.

Strange, I have a number of Polish friends on Facebook and they also have large amounts of Polish facebook friends.

A lot of the people I know have travelled abroad and so use it to stay in touch with international friends.

I market my business extensively through facebook - invaluable - and I'm not talking about facebook ads. I have created a growing community who are interested in the services my business provides and through interaction and dialogue everyone benefits.

Employers sometimes use facebook & myspace to find out personal info, regarding current & potential employees.

Here is what happen to a guy I knew from work: while his wife was pregnant, he took some of his female associates and subordinates from work to a nudie bar, to celebrate his own birthday. Can you believe this sh!t? And then in the drunken stupor he posted picks of the event on the Facebook, LOL!

Of course his bosses found out about it (from Facebook). He lost his job, got divorced by his wife, went bankrupt, and now he changes tires at a gas station for $30K/year, down from $69K he was making before.

All thanks to Facebook. And his own stupidity, of course.

I use Facebook, but don't make big fuss about it. Have just 3 friends (including one sister ;). I was reluctant to do this, but one person I tried to help out in this forum managed to talk me into it.

i only use it when i'm not doing anything else,

way better privacy

Justysia, I (accidentally) looked up how many hours a week you spend "on facebook".
Facebook actually has no face. It is also not a book.

He lost his job, got divorced by his wife, went bankrupt,

Fair enough his wife being pissed off and divorcing him. But since when was it against office policy to go out with your co-workers?

Seems like very harsh behaviour from the company.

facebook is always on when i get on my laptop but i'm not always *on it*, if you get what i mean. i've been in trouble with work cos of facebook recently, but that's just because one of my "friends" snitched to my boss about something i said because she thought it was about work. had a lot of explaining to do, and i'll pick my friends more wisely in the future...
