I have almost never heard of anyone that can't speak Polish getting any other jobs than teaching English. But then you need a TEFL or something like that. Many educated people leave Poland because they can't get a job.

It's easy to get a job in Poland, however, if you're educated and can make 10EUR an hour instead of around 3-4EUR, wouldn't you move too?

You don't need any formal qualifications to teach English - there's even one joker on here advertising for an English speaker with no experience.

Thanks delphiandomine. I don't mind making 4EUR an hour if my living costs are much lower. I plan on studying Polish intensively so I perhaps after a few months I will have a few job options.

nice small flat that is centre of Warsaw

A nice 50 metre flat in the centre of Warsaw is going to cost you at least 2100zl / month (plus bills). Something the same size liveable (i.e. clean and been renovated in the last 15 years but not so nicely furnished) is going to cost you at least 1800zl.

How much for an average life in Poland. Living in 1 bed flat with no parental / family support
You people who think that 3000PLN is enough, must have no life, job, savings, ambition or future. I suggest that you consider leaving Poland to experience one.

In Warsaw :

Decent / hygienic 1 bed flat fairly central = 2,000PLN per month
Bills = 400 PLN per month
Food = 1000 per month
Going Out, Entertainment = 1500 per month
Car/Petrol = 400 per month
Clothes, books, sundries = 600 per month
Other stuff, pastimes etc. 600 per month

Total for average life in Warsaw after tax around 6,500PLN per month. This is by NO means a good life! In the smaller cities deduct about 20%

Harry,

was planning on about 1800 for rent. Could probably go a bit smaller than 50 sqm too. I've got a relatively open mind about location but my girlfriend says if not Śródmieścze then Lublin is better ;)

OK, I'm also asking the question as I'll move to KRAKOW soon. So how much would I need to live like this ? It would be temporary of course (max. 1 year) :

- I prefer Bronowice or Krowodrza / Krowodrza Górka.
- I don't need something big (a separate bedroom is not even required) but I want something clean and "working".
- I have the possibility to bring in my own furniture from Belgium.
- I won't need to buy extra clothes or shoes during that year.
- I don't smoke or drink, and don't need TV (don't watch it much here though).
- I will need a mobile phone subscription and ADSL at home.
- I can cook and don't need to order meals or go to the restaurant (except once in a while).
- Let's say that I would go to the cinema once a week, but very rarely to a pub and never to a dancing.
- I will need a tramway/bus monthly card (I have a car but prefer to leave it and avoid traffic jams).

Oh by the way, when you move in somewhere, do you have to give a financial warranty, like for example giving the equivalent of 2 months of lease ?

Thanks

Living above average or affluent life is seen as living against the times.
Thank you f**n liberals.

without the liberals you wouldnt have something called "the weekend" for you would be expected to keep working in coal mine or textile mill 7 days a week.
