True enough, WB. That wood episode you had was completely unfair. Money grabbing is becoming more and more common here :(

I think you may find that the wolves don't have 4 legs but 2.

yeh, i have seen a wolf though real one of course. Outside my Brother in laws work place in a vast woods, it looked like a wolf and was walking near the car on the edge of the wood with a menecaing look, far to inquisitive for an avergae dog and too big for a fox.

I would say it was a wolf.

I'd love to see a real wolf. They don't go for the jugular apparently. Don't provoke them and they'll stay away.

It's like any city where you must be aware of dangers that are around you especially if you are alone as a woman.

But poles like to exaggerate much.

I visited a friend in Bydgoszcz a couple of times and i still remember the first time he said about dangers in Poland.

He lives near the city centre on a hill and you have to take a row of stairs down to get to to the main town square.

Some kids where sitting on the stairs talking and my friend said we must go fast down the stairs.

I asked why because i was still enjoying the view of the city and he just took of like some bird and flew of the stairs past the group kids and leaving me standing there.

I walked down normally while my friend was waiting below the stairs looking like why i didn't walked faster.

When i asked him why,He just said it's dangerous because of them and it was in broad daylight.

Don't get so drunk on vodka that you don't know what you're doing.

Hahaha that made my day.

Good luck on your journey April. Enjoy your stay in Poland.

I do not understand this need Poles have to make everything dramatic and to lie so much. Gas on sleeper trains...rapists...mafia hits...and all sorts of scary stuff...lots of myths floating around. Everyone knows someone who told someone about it but NOBODY has ever seen it first hand.

But on the other hand...scams, cheating and other unethical behaviors go on daily and they deny it completely. WTF?

Don't take any sleeper trains as Polish people are likely to gas your cabin and steal all your belongings. Just dont take the risk!

i would'nt mind seeing some wildlife

From what I've heard Krakow's Market Square would be a good place for that, with the British tourists behaving in various weird ways ;)

I know several foreigners that have had organs removed on these sleeper trains.
Usually the brain and they go for a very high price as they have never been used before.

Gas on sleeper trains... ...mafia hits..

The first weekend I was in Warsaw there was a mafia hit right outside my apartment block (bomb in somebody's car). One of my colleagues at the second school I worked at in Warsaw was in TGI Friday's when there was a mafia hit there back in '98. Another of my colleagues there was gassed (along with her mother and aunt) on a night train from Wroclaw to Warsaw.

My uncle told me that in 1944 he had to hide in the forests from German forces. Random arrests of Poles by Germans were common.

Be careful out there, April Valentine!

I think he is warning her about the line ups in the post office.

Oh, Polish post offices can be [en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Defence_of_the_Polish_Post_Office_in_Danzig] quite dangerous too!

No chance the queue at the average Polish post office is more like ...................................................................... ...................................................................... ...................................................................... ...................................................................... ...................................................................... ...................................................................... ...................................................................... ...................................................................... ...................................................................... ...................................................................... ...................................................................... ...................................................................... .........

Each one wanting to tell the postal worker their life story, I mean how difficult can it be? one stamp to Warsaw. (2 seconds?) but no they have to tell them about a cut on their knee they got when they were five.

About the US? Wait 10 minutes. At least TJ has actually lived in Poland. Unlike most of the people who detract from the States on here.

Typical Polish tactic...divert attention from themselves....say "but look at so and so". Poles can never admit any faults. You just proved my stance even more...thank you. This is Polish forums not USA forums...and nobody is on here lying about life in the USA like they do about Poland.

It is Polish forum indeed, but if Americans criticize Poland for faults it undoubtedly has, and which are also common in the US then the criticism is a bit on a silly side, huh?
mvefa  5 | 591
31 Jul 2009 /  #55
he's just bitter, i mean, why would you come to a forum and do only negative comments about everything,,i mean,,are you that bored there? haha
tj123

Nope. Nothing I said was like that anyway...but if something was the same it doesnt excuse Poland or mean we cant point it out especially when Poles deny it. You people are unbelievable.

.....im not polish :P gotcha

Then you are a dick that either hates the USA or just likes to argue. You dont have a dog in the fight yet you still comment.

Yeps, i comment is a forum,,but its just a bit annoying just to see negative comments, i mean , did you really have such bad experience in Poland, you seem to really hate it and its people...

You call me a dick if i hate the USA, i mean if i would, that would make you a dick as well, for hating a country...or are only dicks the ones who hate the USA?

Just wondering!!!

Nothing I said was like that anyway

weren't you commenting on theft in Poland when per capita the US has more than three times as many persons in prisons as Poland does?

if something was the same it doesnt excuse Poland or mean we cant point it out especially when Poles deny it

If something is the same then pointing that out is like pointing out as unique to Poland you better make sure you breathe in a certain way because... lo and behold - air in Poland contains, surprisingly, oxygen.

People make comments based on their experience. Out of 25 years I have never ever been attacked by anyone in the street, on a train, bus or elsewhere. So if someone asks me is Poland safe, I'd say "yes, but..." Whatever goes after the "but" will depend on indirect experience I may have had, or on whether someone else gives the answer based on their direct experience.

That sort of talk and generalization is common and not unique to Poland. It's akin to the many product reviews I read frequently on American websites, such as:

I bought this Steel City table saw but it's too big for my garage and it need 220 electrical service but I only have 110. Therefore this saw sucks and I will never, ever buy any products from this manufacturer.

Then you are a dick that either hates the USA or just likes to argue.

See, just because someone made comments you disagree with you assume that person in Polish. It would follow you hate Poland, or you just like to argue.

Darius you are misdirecting...again common topic. USA prison pop has nothing to do with Poland and theft....lots of people are in USA prisons for things other than theft. It is this kind of dishonesty that makes discussing this issue impossible.

Poles will always try to counter me because as I say repeatedly THEY CAN NEVER ADMIT FAULT. They have such complexes about themselves they cannot accept criticism or claims that they are anything other than superior or perfect.....in general.

And yeah...Anyone here who cant admit what I say is true...because it is....is either Polish and in denial as I keep saying...likes Poles more than Yanks so is taking their side regardless of truth....or just wants to argue. Either way they are still wrong. This is not my opinion..this is reality.
