I think every one should celebrate thanksgiving after all there is always some thing you are thankful for. I and my family do celebrate thanksgiving in Chicago!

Good for you. Americans do have reasons to thank Indians for the survival of the first colonists. Poles have no such background.

Poles in Poland celebrate ancient Slavicdozynki - the Holiday of the Harvest.

You celebrate it because you are in a country what celebrates its...it's an A M E R I C A N holiday..........

It's my 'family and I celebrate', NOT 'I and my family' :)

This has been interesting. I threw this on the forum to get some life out it to say the least. SOme will remember what they are thankful for regardless of where they live in the world. SOme just go on and expect the world to revolve arround them. Some jump to conclusions before knowing, and some have a lack of vision.

And some of us have enough history and culture without having to borrow it...

Because as an american it is my Duty to solve the worlds problems!

dont you mean cause the worlds problem? who cares about thanksgiving. its so hypocritical. they give thanks to the indians who saved their ass from starvation after at least two failed attempts to start settlements in the new world had failed and then later they killed almost of them and stole all of their land. and then they kill loads of turkeys to celebrate. great holiday!!

I wish we had that many days off from work, like they do in Poland.

Amen!

So how many days off (in your opinion) do we have in Poland?
And how long is a working week in your country (in Poland it's still 42 hours/week, if I'm not mistaken)?

Double Amen.. plus they always get Good Friday off. Only time I got that off in the US was when I was contracting for a French company. Catholic countries have a lot of good holidays.

Just because it's not on an American holiday it doesn't mean we celebrate all the time.
Everytime I want to call to the USA, they're still sleeping, lazy bums :)

I honestly do not think they will. The Educators will eventually put other events in front and older events will get less emphasis. DId the Brits remember what happened when they ruled Iraq? ANd then they join the US in another effort. Results will be the same!

i'll just qoute shelley for my comment

I fear you are a very stupid person then!

What a load of crap.

lol. american ed system's pretty scary, eh? ;D

dozynki

lol. i already said that way up top. seems it went over everyone's head.. hmm

Don't know about that one, but I do know that in Poland a woman gets about a year off work to be with newborn baby. In the US it's only 6 weeks, unless you have some sick days saved up, then it's up to 3 months.

Then back to work.

I hope you don;t consider it superior, or good in any way.
Btw. Poles pale in comparison to what the French enjoy.
