Can anybody tell me if on Christmas Day 25-12, the train are running here in Poland?
It looks as if I have to work on 24-12, so will only be able to go to my family-in-law near Zakopane on Christmas Day.

My wife will go by car on 23-12 already.
The website of PKP has a timetable only valid until 13-12.

No, they'll release a new one soon.

You can try this page [booking.polrail.com/index.php?main_page=page_3] bookings to see if that can give you any more information (but don't book anything definite until you are sure it's running). ;)

There is train service on Christmas Day. It is greatly reduced compared to a normal day, but trains will run on most routes.

The new railway timetable for travel after 13 December will be available towards the end of November.

That is a relief. I have to catch on Christmas day the train from Warsaw to Chabówka near Zakopane. That is an IC route so that should be OK then I guess

Thread attached on merging:
Public transport in Poland on Christmas Day

Does anybody of you know whether trains are running on Christmas Eve / Christmas Day in Poland - especially the IC?
I am asking this because I have to work on 24 December. MY wife is leaving by car to her home town Rabka-Zdrój on the 23rd.

Depending on my work, I might take the train to Chabówka 24th late afternoon to join her, or in the worst case on the 25th in the morning.

But I have no idea if the IC trains are running from Warsaw to Kraków/Zakopane on the 25th ? And more important, the local trains and buses ?

Look up PKP on the internet that should tell you about the trains, so that'd be most of the journey.

Rabka-Zdrój is a lovely town.

There are loads of private local companies that drive from Krakow down this direction, unfortunately I do not think they are on the internet and i really do not know how to find that information out but the state buses ought to be listed on the net just google PKS for them.

Good luck

I know this :) It is just that the PKP timetable goes until the 12th of December.
I aws taking frequently a private bus on the Kraków - Rabka route before but never on Christmas time.
And Rabka is indeed a lovely town - it is always a relief to stay there a few days away from the every Warsaw noise.

Can't you e-mail the transport information people?

I had to correspond with Matuszek (?) about airport transfers and they were very helpful and very prompt.
Good luck.

Have you seen the film
'Plains, trains and automobiles'?

I saw it :) Nice film, it is just that I want to be in Rabka let us say maximal Christmas Day 12:00 as an emergency option.

Rather Christmas Eve.
On the end I will have to revert to option C: Finish work 24th late afternoon, jump into my car and hopefully arrive in Rabka before 24:00.

Just that it would be very stupid for my wife and me to return separately by car to Warsaw.

As I said before, they'll release a new one soon. Probably some time in November I would have thought.

Public transport on Christmas Day in Poland

Since everybody in Poland is going to drink themselves under the table on Christmas Eve, there is going to be nobody left sober enough on Christmas Day to drive buses and trains. Use a bicycle instead.
