Of all the threads, I cannot find one in relation to this on Polishforums.
Okay, when I think psychology, I think of Austrian neurologist and psychiatrist, Sigmund Freud. Or Swiss psychiatrist Carl Jung.
What do you know about Polish psychologists/psychiatrists?
What do you think of their approaches to - ?
Who have you heard of?
Any concept you dis/agree with?
Any contribution is welcome.
Here are those which I have read about [very] briefly so far (+ a quote from the links provided):
Solomon Asch
'Social pressure can make a person say something that is obviously incorrect '
Kazimierz Dąbrowski
'Dabrowski developed the theory of Positive Disintegration, a novel approach to personality development'
Else Frenkel-Brunswik
'In addition to her work on The Authoritarian Personality, she also did research on prejudice in children, and wrote on intolerance on ambiguity as a cognitive style of personality that emerged in her studies of prejudice'
Marek Kotański
'charity worker and campaigner on behalf of disadvantaged people, including the homeless and those with HIV'Rudolph Loewenstein (psychoanalyst)
'Loewenstein is known above all as one of the foremost figures, with Ernst Kris and Heinz Hartmann, of what has been called Ego psychology'
Abraham Low
'noted for his work establishing self-help programs for the mentally ill, and criticism of Freudian psychoanalysis'
Julian Ochorowicz
'Ochorowicz was a pioneer of empirical research in psychology, and conducted studies into occultism, spiritualism, hypnosis and telepathy.'
Witelo
'views that are close to modern notions on the association of ideas and on the subconscious.'
