interesting topic and one that i know nothing about either... but i read recently that for OAPs, life in prison is a damn sight more attractive than life on a British pension

Find the nearest prison, look at It from outside and you will get some idea about the standard.

Looks like concentration camp - but it's not as bad as in some Eastern European countries. Polish prisoners cannot enjoy their time as much American ones (where they may feel like in a good fitness/movie club) - it's more "rough" :).

Polands prison population is higher than the UK's, which is surprising given the population difference.

a true scholar sir!

Polands prison population is higher than the UK's, which is surprising given the population difference.

it is very surprising! is this due to harsher sentances for lessor crimes? or a more efficent police force? why is it do you think??

for OAPs, life in prison is a damn sight more attractive than life on a British pension

this comment has been ignored and whilst it is slightly off topic i would like to get peoples reactions to it

pensioners in the uk struggle, as they do in poland, life in prison offers the 3 good meals a day, constant heating and hot water, clean clothes, a social life, use of gym and library, an allowance to spend on luxuries and access to tv and other forms of entertainment... for many, this is a lot better than what a state pension offers

can such comparisons realistically be made between life on a polish pension and life in a polish prison?

In polish prison you have alarm at 6.00 than breakfest at 12 lunch and at 17 supper.

nothunk to do many sometimes 10 people live at 4 m squar. tipical criminals takink their punish togever with people whoch don't pay "alimenty". nothing to do so everybody bulding body :)

but one is sure if you are pedofil better endyourself because in polish prison you will be manwh... or worst

thats i know from what i herd from people whoms visited that place

Well, that's what they say in the Polsih TV. However I rarely believe TV, so I would doubt it.

Daffy does your father in law run a security firm in Poland?

Given prison conditions are seemingly quite harsh is this reflective of strict laws?

I think :( was his way of asking :)

I agree with you Bwoo that many hardworking, decent people have it harder than some people on the inside, roof over the head, food everyday, no obligation to society, no expectations, etc.

i would love if they actually gave back to society than continue taking.

I highly doubt that any prison system is tougher than the US in terms of prisoners in fights, being with your own race or religion, rape, and having a felony on your record. Give me a break I could do Polish prison time standing on my head. Statistically you can fill up two 50,000 people stadiums with the amount of rape in us prisons per year from the amount of rape . I have never been to jail.

How could you rape somebody with 10 people in a room? Give me a break you have to be pretty hated for 10 people to let you get raped. In America in Arizona you only get ham and cheese sandwiches for breakfast lunch and dinner give me a break. From watching that movie about Polish prison it looks like the people in that movie werent really strong. In America the average prisoner who is in there for 20 years is at least 200 pounds. That is why if your a average citizen better join your race or religion if a foreigner. I know people that have been to prison and that is what everyone has told me. If you don't know about America their are four prison groups Nazis, blacks, Latinos, and Muslims. If you are any one other than those you better join the Nazis or Muslims unless you weigh about 250 pounds full of muscle or liked getting raped.
