Grzegorz_ 51 | 6,161 21 Jul 2008 / #8Anyone know the rules & regs for Metal Detecting in Poland or anyone had Experience? What do you mean ?
Kowalski 7 | 621 21 Jul 2008 / #9It is not illegal to walk around with metal detector but it is not legal to dig.According to law all you'd dig out belongs to state.Selling archaeological treasures - sentence up to 5 years
OP astra21 1 | 5 21 Jul 2008 / #10Ok, I guess Ill have to walk around disguised as a Tree.....Ps: Guy goes to a Star Trek Party dressed as a tree, the host asks, "What did you come as??"............"Captains Logg".......rofl
Kowalski 7 | 621 21 Jul 2008 / #11^my bad..........correction: it IS legal to just walk around with metal detector, you can't dig out anything though legally.
Bartolome 2 | 1,085 21 Jul 2008 / #12But, as in many other aspects in Polish life, the law is one thing and the reality quite other one.
osiol 55 | 3,922 21 Jul 2008 / #13So it's not like it in UK, where I think you can dig something up, providing the land owner has given consent. Then it has to be handed over as some sort of national property, and final ownership depends on some confusing legal gubbins?Must make professional archaeology a bit tricky.
wildrover 98 | 4,451 21 Jul 2008 / #14If you dig up a bomb thats ticking , and about to go off then legally you can keep it....nobody else wants it....
