The tap water here is drinkable. Any bad chemicals, I surmise, would be in minute quantities and therefore able to be dealt with by our immune systems. I have never felt bad after drinking it after running out of bottled water.
Seanus, you shouldn't be drinking tap water especially in Silesia, years of heavy industry growth ( and then collapse ), coal mines, foundries, coal power plants have polluted air and water. And although it's much better now, all the people I know are drinking tap water only after boiling it first, and most of them have some kind of remote filtering kettels. Sometimes when I'm having a trip to Beskidy mountains I can tell a huge difference in flavour of the tap water here and there. I also remember teachers in ground school telling us that we shouldn't be drinking tap water because it's unhealthy :o
Maybe in some other parts of Poland, but here in Silesia, I really don't recommend drinking it..
I agree but it's usually just to wet the palate. More damage could come from foods with additives or E-based substances. Better safe than sorry though, you are right.
well, the day after, with a huge hangover I wouldn't probably object and just guzzle down on the tap.. but yeah, it's better to leave this option for the most extreme cases of thirst ; ) As for the food, after watching a program about clerk ladies washing off the mould from meat with a dish washing liquid, afterhours in one of the polish stores I just don't trust anyone..
