Is drinking water in Poland good?

First of all, I'm very glad that you found a job wildrover. As for the bid of your post I quoted, I think that this is probably the only thing that Poles and Brits have in common - being critical about their fatherland. Well actually in both cases only english are allowed to moan about the Uk and only Poles are allowed to moan about poland but that's justs a topic for a totally different discussion. :)

-edit-

As for the original topic, you won't die or get ill because of drinking tap water in Poland, but still It would be better to drink a bottled water.

PS:

tap water in poland is a poison and taste like pee

Dude, you know how pee tastes? That's mighty disturbing. :))

I wouldn't say the only thing, but your next point is correct.

Without going into the usual 'how to define the UK and its inhabitants' thing, I have had quite a few conversations with Poles about how bad our own countries are, but how the other's is much nicer because blah blah blah. I've had conversations with Germans, only their case is a little different as they usually agree with me about how bad the UK is, whereas I can't say quite so many nice things about Germany.

I have drunk Polish tap water, although if you're recovering from drinking, why not rehydrate yourself with some lovely Polish beer, vodka, or maybe even s******s. On second thoughts, sometimes the tap water might seem like a safer option.

The whole statement was a little tongue-in-cheek. I'm sure that there are more characteristics that we have in common, but the moaning seems to be the most vivid one. :)

Please don't drink water in Poland. It has a very specific chemical composition and people die like flies after drinking just a few drops. After WW2 Poland had some 27 million people and now only... waiddaminute!

Some places in Poland water is safer than others. Same as in the US. City water is the worse, but if you live in country and have your own well, it's safe. Not all Polish water is the same. You can Go to Nałeczowo Health resort and have some mineral water from the tap or other health resorts and have some natural carbonated water from the tap. Now that stuff is good!

When I remembered this thread, it got me worried. All the bad things said about Polish tapwater.
I had no choice but to drink acoholic beverages instead. Morning, noon and night... and various other times of day that aren't suitably covered in that list.

And this thread ends up right next to the Brits drink too much and can't handle it thread!
I didn't get pissed on by a dog - I can take my drink.

Test your water hunny! Take a transparent container, fill it with water, let it rest for 2 days (: See if it looks like crystalline water... (i think this help a little bit lol idk)

My mom always tell me "Don't think water from the sink!! You'll get sick." Here in US and other countries, she is always worry about it. hehe! We always buy our good filtered water. You should do the same ;)

I am curious if this is out of habit or reality. I catch myself drinking from the tap sometimes out of habit and my gf freaks out.

A lot of people in the states drink bottled water even though many city systems are cleaner. It is just a fear, habit, wive's tale scenario.

Thats also the problem with information...it is hard to get it accurately...especially here in Poland.

Warsaw water is not safe to drink. End of.

Warsaw water is perfectly safe to drink. Go and visit the filtration plant on Filtrowa and see it being purified for yourself.

I've drunk tapwater here for ten and a half years and never had any problems because of it.

None of the Poles I know in Warsaw drink the tap water, not one, whether in old flats or new buildings they buy the large 8pint bottles of water, not even trusting the tap water for the kettle.

I sometimes wonder how much of that is 'this is how people behave in the West, so it is how we must behave to' thinking.

tap water is unhealthy and instalations are old ... I don't think it is syndrome you mentioned. I drink water from bottles for the same reasons not because "west" do so.

The general quality is decent but u have to let it run for a bit first. Sometimes, u get brown stuff gushing out and u have to let it pass. Nothing beats the soft water of Inverness though

Give me water any day of the week. Water cleanses, vodka demonises

Well, in my town, few years ago, they cleaned the pipes with spirytus in the public... i dont remember the word in english... "ujęcie wody oligoceńskiej", what was the outcome? Well... 3 times a week for an hour for a month we had 75% vodka straight out of the tap :P
