Polish Philosophy and art

Hi I was just curious because I have many Polish friends now but theres one thing I have noticed, many of them are studying philosophy or have studied philosophy or its either art.

Is this a coincidence or is this common.

Studying these two do you gain a descent living i.e jobs in Poland?

What are the best universities in Poland to study these two subjects?

All university students have to study the history of philosophy (it`s some 30h of lectures+ exam) as part of their study - But is Philosophy popular as a separate study ? I wouldn`t say so.

The most popular studies here are: psychology, economics and IT.


No - there are no jobs for people who studied - only philosophy (I think that it`s all over the world that way) - that`s why probably you see so many of them abroad.

However - there are quite many people who study philosophy as a second study, treating it as a hobby as well as something that widens their horizons - and in general it`s a good thing if a journalist, a manager or a lawyer has also a masters degree in philosophy.

When it comes to artists - it really depends how good they are and what they are doing. If they are specialized in graphic design and they are good - they can expect to find well paid jobs.. while artists who create some kind of modern sculputures or paintings have to be very good to achieve success and appear on some exhibitions ect.


I really have no idea - but when it comes to philosophy I think that KUL is one of the best.

Its strange because I have 1 Polsih friend who works in England and only goes to do her exams in january and june and then comes back here to work. Shes studying in Poznan and only has oral exams. What kind of philosophy degree/course is that?

When I was studying a degree in England for 3 years I had constant lectures and exams.

Strange.

Then - by our standards you`d have a licencjat or bachelors degree.

When I was making my magister or masters degree in Poland I also had constant lectures, exams, and practical exercises for 5 years as well.

So I really have no idea, but there are certainly a number of possibilities i.e. he might be attending some non-stationary study (which are meant for people who weren`t able to pass the entry exam for a normal study as well as for people who have jobs and want to get additional qualifications - but in that case he would have to attend classes each weekend...) or your friend is attending some sub-standard school - but in that case I don`t know what kind if at all - degree he would receive.

Polish flower man? Is it a typical Polish art?
